The Crimes of Chin "Chi" Kid
Considering writing a fic where Chi goes to trial for her many crimes (+ The Incident as a whole are under fire for abetting her), so I just want to take the time to lay out my perception of what crimes she's actually committed - without breaking canon, if possible.
First off, the arson. So much of it, she obviously made it a hobby during the Three-Year Gap, to the point where the first book she ever read was a guidebook on how to properly go about it. Personally, I don't imagine she targeted owned establishments for any (or at least, most) of her fires, she just used empty buildings and rock formations as target practice, but that's obviously still very illegal, both for the arson/general property damage and for the trespassing.
Significantly worse than that, though, is the high school she hit up for her first Scientist gear - and by "hit up", I mean she broke into the place, practiced dangerous chemical experiments, robbed them of their supplies, and probably set fire to something on her way out. Let's call this school "Neksdor High" - Whatever legal team they have is probably the one suing Chi, she absolutely caused the most damage to them out of any of her arson targets, even committing several more crimes such as B&E and robbery in the process.
Moving on from that, though, is her final crime, practicing extremely dangerous science without any kind of degree and breaking every imaginable safety rule in the process. Especially given that she's exposed minors like Chat and Shrimp to her experiments, I have to go out on a limb and assume at least some of that is illegal.
Tack on a charge for every Incident member other than the aforementioned minors for allowing Chi to hide out with them while actively on the run from the police (not to mention Mar's attempted genocide and multiple actual murders as the Dark Curse, Bo's attempted murder of Mar, Erica locking Chat in her car, etc.), and the entire team is probably screwed if the prosecution is competent. Luckily, this is Miitopia, and if the cops were bad enough to let Chi get away while actively leaving a trail of saved faces and monster bodies behind her for months, then the rest of the legal system could very easily be just as inept.
