She knew he was not Saldaean, but it had been so hard, thinking in her heart of hearts that he believed her too weak to stand up to him.
What a beautiful contrast between Faile and Min. Faile thinks about her man in terms of how strong, commanding, and powerful he is, while Min sees Rand as someone who needs pity and comfort. Faile worries that Perrin thinks she is too weak for him, while Min worries that Rand thinks she is not beautiful enough for him. Faile never worries that Perrin will be fascinated by Berelainâs beauty (the most beautiful woman in the world), while Min compares herself to Elayne and her beauty, thinking that beauty is the most important trait in a woman for Rand.
Faile believes that nothing can stop Perrin and that no one can stand up to him, while Min believes that there is no one who can save Rand or take care of him, so she feels that she must be with him all the time, soothing and comforting him. No wonder Faile dislikes Min.
I will admit even though I hate the Shaido kidnapping slog, it has much more to do with how mind-numbingly repetitive Perrin and Faileâs POV chapters are than either of them as characters. Based on my experience with how most feel about her, I am evidently much nicer to Faile than most.
Sheâs impulsive, a little too self-concerned, trying hard to be cool but thatâs cause sheâs like 16. Sheâs an annoying teenager from a wealthy family. So sheâs actually much more competent than she probably should be given how that kind of characterization usually goes.
Sheâs clingy and jealous! Yeah, itâs her first real relationship AND they are culturally very different in terms of expectations.
She owns her actions, she doesnât really pretend to be someone sheâs not, and sheâs pretty immediately ride or die for Perrin.
Again, sheâs not my favorite (Nynaeve is) but she isnât particularly irritating like Moghedien while sheâs captured honestly is.

- the highlight of this book was perrin and faile for me so imagine my shock when i go online and see that people hate her. also ik they can be toxic but i enjoyed it ngl.
- why did it feel like we were in tear forever. i didnât mind it but still.
- mats getting really annoying. sorry.
- why are so many ppl in love with rand. these people throw around the word love very liberally.
- the tanchico arc with the girls was fun too, but i have liked every single one of their plotlines so far sooâŚ

i read it awhile back and have started book 5 so this all that i remember.

She did not doubt her husbandâs love, but she could not treat Berelain as the woman deserved, and that forced her, against her will, to play a game with Perrin too often as the gaming board. And the prize, so Berelain believed. If only Perrin did not sometimes behave as if he might be.
Faile respects Berelain because she is smart and brave (and kicked her ass). But because Perrin seems to want to be the main prize in their âgame,â and because he treats Berelain as an equally strong woman while being gentle with Faile, as if heâs afraid to hurt her (which likely makes Berelain seem to be winning their game), Faile feels forced to play.
I enjoy this kind of "polyamory" way more than Randâs.

I could assume that Faile is also jealous because of Rand, as Perrin and Rand shouted at each other and had that intense, sexy fight with blood and broken things that Faile wishes she had with Perrin.
