Hekla visiting the lava fields of Fagradalsfjall in Iceland 🌋
The photo is my own, taken last year. Drawing a critter in it was a fun exercise! I liked how Hekla's colours matched the lava and rocks in the photo. I think Typhlosions would do very well in the Icelandic landscape, here's exhibit nr.1 to prove it :D

"To record this mind-bending footage of the insides of an erupting volcanic crater, I probably flew the closest I’ve ever done during the last four eruptions. This video is not cropped! It was so windy that day, that the strong wind pushed the extreme heat almost instantly out of the way. This allowed me to fly straight into the belly of the volcanic beast. The thing I love most about it is that you can actually see the erupting lava cool down as it is catapulted into the air. Can you guess how high (or should I say low) I was flying above this erupting volcano?"

"This is one of my personal favourite clips of this year, which I captured during the August eruption at Sundhnúkagígar. I didn’t have much time to go out and record footage but managed to squeeze in one evening inbetween two photo workshops. This particular flow really caught my eye. The various patterns and movement directions are really mind boggling to watch. From top to bottom, I estimate the distance to be about 30 meters based on the altitude I was flying at and the lens I used.
PS: To reiterate: everything I post here is real. I do not fabricate content, nor manipulate it. The speed of the lava flows are always as I observed them, I even rarely crop the footage you see here."

"During the fifth eruption at Sundhnúksgígar, last May, I captured this unique, almost hypnotic lava flow. It turns out this was an even more fleeting moment than usual because since then, the area where I recorded this has been buried twice over with new lava. It’s wild to think how much and how fast this area has been terraformed in less than a year. If you would have asked me, or asked anyone really, what they would have expected to happen there I don’t think anyone would’ve guessed we would be experiencing our 7th eruption in less than a year time.

"One of my favorite captures this year is this top-down clip of lava flowing over snow. I managed to capture this moment during the February eruption at Sundhnúkagígar this year. This clip sparked a lot of debate in the comments section, as people questioned whether it was real because there’s no visible steam when the lava crosses over the snow. I must admit, it also baffled me when I saw it in person, so I decided to seek explanations.
What happens is likely the result of the Leidenfrost effect. The lava is so incredibly hot that it melts the top part of the snow, which then creates a vapour layer that shields the bottom part from the heat temporarily. Similarly to what you can observe when water droplets scoot around on a hot metal plate. The lava moves so fast that it actually manages to cover the snow before it can melt. As a result, it is all trapped underneath the fresh lava. Extremely fascinating if you ask me.
