Rune crafting is hard work. Fascinating, intricate, consummating, wonderful work, but still incredibly complex, still something she needs to fully focus on, especially when she’s folding something as volatile as red lyrium. Dagna knows this. She’s spent many a night doing exactly this and not even realising when the hours went by in the quietness of the undercroft, taking advantage of the absence of Harritt’s grumbling, and she always loves every single second of it. She’s never been distracted from her work before, never found anything as intriguing, but since Sera focusing has become…difficult. After the battle with Corypheus, it seems like Sera is always there, in Dagna’s workspace, altering the order of Dagna’s tools and talking faster than even Dagna herself, smelling like flowers and smoke and sitting in impossible positions and being utterly, utterly distracting.

In fairness, Sera has listened to Dagna rambling on and on about runes and magic and lyrium, an adorable wrinkle on her forehead while she did her best to follow the pattern of Dagna’s enthusiasm. Dagna could never have imagined Sera sitting still at all, let alone listening to this sort of thing for hours, and she appreciates it, she really does, but there’s always a moment when Sera deems the work day over (when it is far from it), and she moves around Dagna in flashes of plaidweave and chaos and fleeting touches and terribly mischievous whispers, and kisses, soft kisses, gentle kisses, burning marks along Dagna’s temple or in the corner of her mouth or her cheekbone, and it’s maddening and distracting and it makes the lyrium seem dead and flat in comparison, completely boring in a way it’s never been before. It’s very disconcerting, and Dagna doesn’t know how to deal with it, so in the end she grabs Sera by the waist to still her, and reaches up while Sera bends, and stifles giggles against her skin before kissing her, all soft, and gentle, and distracting.
