Come one, come all to this year's Handers Gift Exchange! For those new to the concept, a fandom gift exchange is an event in which participants create fanworks to give to one another, based off their prompts, preferences, and ships! Then giftees will leave comments on any gifts they receive and the love for Handers will be shared.

March 22 - April 5: Sign-ups
April 6 - 9: Matching & Assignments Sent Out
April 10 - June 7: Creation & Posting Period
With additional check-ins on May 1-3 and May 29-31. Participants may post any time during the creation period dates, not just at the end.

Q. When will assignments go out, and when is my gift due?
A. Assignments will go out on or before April 9, 2026. You can post your gift any time during the creation period, but they absolutely must be posted by June 7, 2026.
Q. Will there be check-ins?
A. Yes. Mods will be checking in with participants the weekends of May 1-3 and May 29-31. If you are struggling to complete a gift or haven’t started by then we would strong encourage you to flag this to a mod so that we can arrange a pinch-hitter if necessary. We understand that life happens, so we won’t hold it against you if you need to drop out - we just want to be sure that your recipient still gets a gift!
Q. How do I share my gift?
A. All gifts should be posted on AO3 and on tumblr. Gifts should be posted to the 2026 Handers Gift Exchange collection on AO3 or Tumblr. Your recipient should be clearly tagged using AO3's gift function, or Tumblr posts should tag the recipient directly. Tumblr posts should also tag in the handers-time blog so that we can find it to reblog it.
Q. How big should my gift be?
A. Fanfic should reach a minimum word count of 1,000 words. Fanart should be at least a clean sketch or completed lineart, depending on how you view your artstyle.
Q. Is this an anonymous gift exchange?
A. No, but please do not tell your giftee until you have officially posted your gift. The reveal will occur the moment you post it!
Q. Are there any rules about commenting?
A. Yes. You must comment on any gift made for you. This should be a comment of at least 3 sentences in length.

for the WIP game, what is a dangerously blue hawke snippet?
Wahoo! I have very little written for this one as I've only just started a playthrough for this Hawke, but this idea GRIPPED me. Andrea Hawke, devout chantry girl like her mother wished her to be, growing closer to Sebastian in Act 3 despite being partnered with Anders. IT'S JUICY!
How did everything go so wrong?
It hadn’t been simple, or typical by any means. Love between mages could never be. But it had been good once, hadn’t it? Anders could still remember the first day she’d entered his clinic, cheeks still smudged with dirt and blood from fighting Coterie thugs on the way there. Anders hadn’t been in Kirkwall long at that point, but long enough for word to spread. The healer in Darktown was Ferelden, a warden, a runaway, but he never charged a cent. Whispers led her to him, and despite everything, he was still grateful they had done so. Even in that arduous first year in Kirkwall, he dreamed of loving her.
Now, the love of his life held a dagger poised at his back, prepared to pass judgment over him at the behest of the chantry’s dog prince. Was he really surprised? Hadn’t he prepared himself for a martyr’s death? With his head finally clear of the screaming of vengeful Justice, he could only slouch and sigh, wondering where it all went wrong.

This Night by Rhiannon87 (quickie (5K+ words), plot and gentle smut, finished) I'm a "then we'll be fugitives together" girlie, but I do love this post-game reunion between Hawke and Anders. If I did send him away (NEVER!), this is how I would want them to come back together.
for who would lose, though full of pain, this intellectual being by angel_deux (shmedium (25K+ words) AU, mostly plot with mention of activities, finished) I will never get over how TRAGIC Hawke's story is. An AU where Anders is made TRANQUIL and then brought back again by the Inquisitor. Also featuring fellow feathered boy Cullen in a prominent role.
Aftermath by Katuary (medium (50K+ words), mostly plot, finished) I feel VERY strongly that Hawke and Anders are the only DA couple that would go on to have a child. My favorite take on a post-game, on-the-run Handers so far.
Solas x Lavellan
Apotheosis by KeeperLavellan (long (100K+ words), plot and smut, finished) This is, so far, my favorite characterization of Solas and how I imagine a significant-age-gap relationship would truly play out. Stays mostly true to the game with a few great deviations - plus a wonderful Dorian!

And All The Stars Between Us by missadriella (long (100K+ words), plot and smut, finished) I can't believe this is missadriella's one and only fic!! A great overview of Shenko throughout the games and then a bit after too. This line makes me ;-; - "I could never leave you behind," she says, her voice breaking. "You know that."
Priority: Leviathan by Whimsyy (shmedium (25K+ words), plot and pining, work in progress) EEP I'm loving this reimaging of the Leviathan DLC. Exes Kaidan and Shep have to work together (thanks Udina) - lots of pining and fluffy flashbacks!
Time and Again by sevanderslice (one shot, plot only, finished) makes me WEEP - short and sweet reunion of Kaidan and Shep post-destroy ending.
Reyes Vidal x Female Ryder
Santa Sarita: Patron Saint of a Third Rate Smuggler by HIMluv (XL (250k+ words), has plot and smut, unfinished) Crying, screaming, throwing up about how GOOD this fic is. All of the chapters are good but Sanctified in particular has both great plot and DELICIOUS slow burn / pining. I'll never get over it.
The Charlatan and the Pirate Queen: A Reyes Vidal origin story by Pikapeppa (medium (50K+ words), plot and smut, finished) Not a lot of Ryder here but I'm totally obsessed with this deep dive into an origin story for Reyes. Not for the faint of heart!!
