Using detail as an emotive tool: A look at Arctos Arctos Arctos Ursus' protagonist
So there is this Comic book I like called Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, The art in it is detailed & emotive & expressive. This is the protagonist Yuna.
She looks like this, most of the time. When she is calm and happy at least.
But if Yuna isn't really feeling the moment....
Her detail falls away. If Yuna is disinterested or upset then her character detail is gone.
Good mood, detailed art.
Bad mood, blobby silhouette.
It's not a hard rule, it is used to other effects in the story too.
Like when Yuna is really concentrating on something.
Or feeling annoyed when receiving too much attention. (all kinds)
I just really like how the character detail is used to emote, it's a neat trick.
This comic is cute and fun and silly and it makes me feel good. The story is also done as a decent LN and season 1 of the anime is a flawless masterpiece.
and yes, Yuna counts as a superhero.
She has fantastical powers and an flamboyant costume, both unique to her and outstanding to her society. She uses her powers to help people in need and defeat monsters and cruel men.
one hundred percent a superhero comic.
The title is pronounced Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. The Japanese title , "くまクマ熊ベアー" consists of kuma–the Japanese word for "bear"—written first in the hiragana alphabet as -"くま" then in katakana alphabet as -"クマ" then with the kanji character -"熊" followed by the english word "bear" katananized as -"ベアー" "ー" isn't it's own letter it just makes the vowel sound longer at the end of the word to sorta imply the R. So it's more like "Be-ah" with a long a.
Hey everyone! I'm new here on Tumblr and I've realized I want to pursue art, especially Expressionism. Any tips on how to improve my drawing skills? Would really appreciate your help! Thank you!
