German actress Brigitte Helm in her greatest role: as (False) Maria in Fritz Lang’s 1927 dystopian sci-fi film, METROPOLIS.
Helm would never again work for Fritz Lang after the abusive treatment she claimed to have endured from him at age 17 while filming METROPOLIS. She would leave Germany and film forever in 1935.

I drew this page a while ago now, but I still wanted to share it with you. My relationship towards myself and romance is very complicated — like most people — and I feel very confronted by it lately. Though this almost violent feeling confrontation is extremely uncomfortable, it pushes me to discover more about myself and therefore the world around me. Only when you understand yourself can you begin to wrap your head around why you see things the way you do. This can lead to revelations of sorts and push towards creative release that is more pure. Having said that, I must also admit I haven't made much art as of late; I have been pouring much of my time into school as I am now in my senior year of highschool and have been focused on my final art piece for school. I wish I could show you some of the works I have been drawing and painting, however — as it is an exam — I am not permitted to. In nine days I will be 18 and everything and nothing will change. So, with this flurrying about my brain at the beginning of this year, I pushed these drawings out of paper and into the world. Hopefully you find beauty in them, and if not, I hope they make you at least feel something.
