âSweet tat, Hargrove.â It was Tommyâs voice, too annoyingly loud.
âThanks,â Billy replied dryly.
Steve was not going to bother to look. Because he did not care. He really didnât.
âAny specific reason for itâŚ?â Tommy continued as Steve pulled up his pants. There was a small silence in the air giving Billy time to come up with shit.
âNo.â
âReally?â Tommy pushed. â5 not your lucky number or anything?â There was another silence and Steve titled his head. A number? What a strange thing to tattoo.
âJust fuck off with your stupid questions, Tommy.â Billy growled obviously having enough from the other boy. âItâs just a fucking tattoo.â
âOkay, jeez,â Tommy huffed and Steve could hear the slamming of the locker being closed followed by heavy footsteps. Soon enough the locker roomâs door was opened and closed.
Steve fiddled the buttons of his shirt. His locker had already been closed zipping up his bag before throwing it over his shoulder.
Billy was still there. Dressed but still seated on the bench in front of his locker. Shoulders were slumped down and he was looking down left wrist in his right hand. If Steve wanted to get out he had to pass by Billy to get to the entrance door. Steve innerly dramatically sighed. He gripped the string of his bags tighter and he watched Billy carefully, but not too much.
It was till he was in the right angle to be able to see what Billy was staring that he almost stumbled on his feet.
005
Steve thought that his heart dropped and that maybe his head was playing with him. He snapped his head to look again. It was clear now.
005
It couldnât be clearer. The tattooed numbers in the exact font. Steveâs breath hitched. Then he met the fierce ocean blue eyes of Billy Hargrove.
âProblem, Harrington?â Hargrove was almost hissing at him. There was no way that it was the same tattoo, the same reasoning. There was no way that Billy Hargrove had suffered the fate of being locked in Hawkinâs secret laboratory.
Steve rolled his eyes because that is what their relationship has become to ever since the night at the Byersâ home. Exchanging little words as possible with a lot more dirty look. He walked out of the locker room unable to wrap his mind around the concept of Billy and the number. Billyâs responses to Tommy echoed in his head.
Steve stopped in his tracks as the realization started to sink in. The realization is that if it is the case than he had something more than Billyâs short temper and his fists to worry about.
He really hoped this was an odd coincidence.
Billy back at the Russian base in a Cylindrical tank filled with a liquid substance and heâs in a very deep sleep.
A breathing mask is on his face, cords are attached to his body and His injuries are almost completely healed and some flesh is replaced with metal.
Heâs been a sleep for months but something triggers him to wake up. Maybe Itâs memories flashing through his mind or maybe he senses el trying to look for him through the void.
When he wakes up, he punches the glass hard until it breaks and heâs stepping out, naked and dripping wet.

"That was the thing about Hawkins, Indiana. It wasn't special. At least, not in the ways that the kids all thought it was, the whole city in general seeming to hang under a dark cloud of... wrong. But Hawkins, Indiana was not alone in its obscurity. There were places just like it all over the United States, where lab experiments go wrong and children pay the price. Even somewhere on the other side of the country, an exotic place like California, had its own experiments."

When Billy comes back to Hawkins, he doesn't have a home.
When They Fight, They Fight
No one ever moves into a small town, they only move back. And to him, returning to Hawkins was like putting on a well worn pair of gloves. The small town suited Neil Hargrove well, with his small mind attitude.
Neil Hargrove had been the star of the football team and the king of Hawkins back in his day. Heâd had a different girl on his arm nearly every damn week, and heâd even managed to land Karen Buonoâbefore sheâd fallen for that Ted Wheeler kid. Neil had even fought Jim Hopper behind the football stands one humid summer afternoon, earning him a title of respect amongst many. Everyone in town had known the Hargrove boy, championed him to be some sort of town hero before heâd moved off to California.
And despite popular belief, Neil hadnât actually wanted to move out west, but heâd gone stupid and got hitched. She was a nice enough girl at first, sweet and smart. Sheâd known how to host and keep a home. The only arguments they ever had were about the job sheâd taken, at the laboratory, just after theyâd gotten married. Neil Hargrove hadnât wanted a wife who worked, let alone a wife that made more than him when the town fell into a recession. But, then Neil Hargrove had done something even stupider. Sheâd got pregnant.
Immediately, she quit her job and refused to leave the house, begging him to let them move. Begging and then threatening to leave him if they didnât. So heâd taken her to California, had found a nice little insurance job, and had watched her give birth the a little boy.
A little boy with bright blue eyes and curly golden hair. My boy, she had called him, and she was right. As far as Neil was concerned. No son of his had golden locks and blue eyes, no son of his would be so soft as the boy, Billy, turned out to be.
The abuse started not long after Billyâs first birthday, and was followed quickly by the paranoia. The meaner Neil Hargrove got, the more sure his wife became that the âbad menâ were after her precious son. Neil hadnât understood what it meant.
The cycle of abuse all came to a head just before Billyâs eighth birthday, when her health started to decline rapidly.
Put up in a hospital bed and pale as the dead, sheâd began to tell Neil the extent of her job at Hawkins Labs. The LSD, the deprivation tanks, the electro-therapy, and she begged him to protect her son. Neil Hargrove had indulged his wifeâs dying wishes, coddling her and making promises he had no intentions of keeping.
She died three months after Billyâs eighth birthday.
That had been a lifetime ago however, and since then Neil had married Susan and all had fallen back into peaceful domesticity. All except for his backwards son, who was nothing but ungrateful and insolent. Neil hated him for it, yet it was the perfect reason for him to move the small family to the small town.
That, and the Child Protective Service agent that had started showing up when Billy had gone to school with bruises in the shape of Neilâs fist a few too many times. Just another bureaucratic way for the government to meddle in good folks personal business in his opinion.
So the Hargrove-Mayfield family packed up, Neil and Susan loaded up in his truck with her daughter. Followed by the moving truck and Billyâs camero, all filled to the brim with their belongings.
And little did Neil know, that as the caravan traveled away from the ocean and towards the small town, he was awakening more struggles. As tears tracked down Billy Hargroveâs face, his bruises began to heal and scrapes to mend. Seemingly on their own.

If billy had powers from the lab, Imagine him trying to use them for good and stuff like that. kids convince him, telling him how cool he would be.
Billy does it, but he turns out to be one of the worst crime fighters ever. Thereâs a robbery and the kids rush up to billy while heâs smoking a cigarette.
âBilly, Billy!â
âUgh What?â
âNowâs your chance!â Dustin shouts and points to the bank. Billy scoffs but goes over anyway. Later the bank is practically on fire and Hopper is not only pissed, but baffled.
âThe hell Hargrove!â Hopper yells.
Billy just shrugs. âAt least I stopped them.â
Some more on bad superhero Billy.
Billyâs powers in this Scenario is strength and healing and the kids try to train him to be a superhero but it doesnât really work out, he ends up damaging a lot of things.
They give him comics books for research, but that doesnât help either. Heâs not a golden boy like Superman or captain America.
But that doesnât stop him from trying to do good. One day Steve is getting mugged and Billy is there just in time to save him. âAll right pal give pretty boy back his wallet before things get ugly.â
But the guy ignores him and shoots Billy when he steps closer. Billy just gives a bored look and simply says âow.â Before grabbing the guy and throwing him into a building window. Steve stares in shock.
âUm...you didnât have throw him into a 4 story window.â
âYour welcome.â Billy grumbles.
One time the press surrounds him and ask him a lot of questions about his style of crime fighting and actions. âWhy donât you wear a mask or suit?â One reporter ask
âBecause I donât wanna look like an idiot.â
âDo you have anything to say to criminals who are a threat to this town?â
âYeah, this shit hole is under my protection, try anything and see what happens.â Not the most heroic thing he can say, but itâs a start.
