Now that I've finished Exit Strategy, should I read Network Effect or Fugitive Telemetry first? I already have Network Effect borrowed from the library, but I can also borrow Fugitive Telemetry. I like to read things in publishing order normally, but I'm not sure if Fugitive Telemetry is supposed to be read before Network Effect.
I just finished Exit Strategy, and I have thoughts! First of all, Dr. Mensah and her preservation crew are back! Pin-Lee's, Ratthi's, Gurathin's, and Mensah's different reactions to seeing Murderbot again were all so interesting. Like how Pin-Lee was angry at it for leaving, Ratthi was happy to see it again, Gurathin was curous about what it had been doing, and Mensah was worried about it being captured, while also being relieved and happy to see it again. She even hugged it.
Speaking of Mensah, she was awesome in this book! That scene where she confronted Murderbot?
I could get that weapon before that human could blink. I wanted to do it, and it bled through into the feed.
Mensah turned, gripped the collar of my jacket with both hands, and said, "No."

She looked mad and exhausted, which was exactly the way I felt. I sent, You have no idea what I am.
She tilted her head and looked more mad. I know exactly what you are. You're afraid, you're hurt, and you need to calm the fuck down so we can get through this situation alive.
I said, I am calm. You need to be calm, to take over a gunship.
Mensah's eyes narrowed. Security consultants don't get their clients into unnecessary pitched battles for control of their rescue ship. She added, Because that would be stupid.
She wasn't afraid of me. And it hit me that I didn't want that to change.
This scene was so cool. Also, is it just me, or was Murderbot funnier in this book than in the last few books? Like putting it's feet on the table then taking them off because it wasn't comfortable, making a lewd gesture at the gunship crew, and straight up telling Gurathin that it doesn't like him.
Now that Murderbot doesn't have to worry about being Mensah's pet robot anymore, I wonder what it'll do next? Maybe it will stay with Preservation, work for GoodNightLander Independent, or film the documentary. I've heard good things about the next book, Network Effect, so I'm excited to see what it does next!
