This month is the anniversary of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii.

As a PSA: people, don’t steal artifacts. From Pompeii or anywhere really.

This CNN report notes that hundreds of visitors have returned artifacts over the years that they stole while visiting Pompeii. Many were sent back with letters of apology, expressing belief and sharing stories that bad luck ensued after the mosaic tiles, pieces of plaster, etc. were taken.
