Belief is Just a Veil
If you come across a fallen tree blocking the road, it does not care about your philosophy, your mood, or your religion. It possesses physical mass and obeys the laws of physics. If you close your eyes and choose to "believe" the path is clear, you are still going to trip over that tree and break your shin. It is objectively just there.
But with holy water, we are told that only believing makes it real. If something requires your compliance and your imagination to exist, the power isn’t in the water at all. It’s just a mirror for your own psychology.
Look at how this actually plays out in human behavior.
Imagine someone commits a horrible act. They hurt someone. If they genuinely believe that splashing some holy water over themselves cleanses their soul and washes away their sins, their conscience is suddenly cleared. They get to sleep at night.
So when the universe eventually strikes back with the natural consequences of their actions—broken relationships, paranoia, a deteriorating life—they won't connect the dots. Because in their head, the debt was canceled by the water. They will blame bad luck, a curse, or "God’s mysterious ways" before they ever admit, "This is the direct wreckage of what I did."
But if that same person doesn't believe in the ritual? The guilt remains an absolute, objective weight in their psyche. When things go wrong later, their brain instantly connects the dots: "This is the price I am paying for my actions."
The external events might be exactly the same, but the internal reality is entirely dictated by the narrative they chose to accept.
People use the comfort of a belief to delete their actions so they don't have to face the crushing weight of self-reflection. It’s an escape ramp to keep their hands clean while ignoring the real-world consequences behind them.
But let's be entirely honest about what's happening here:
Believing doesn't make it go away. Believing just puts a veil on it.
The tree is still in the road. The consequences are still unfolding. The veil just lets you pretend the path is clear.
Is it just me or has tumblr been moving especially slowly lately?
Like comment or reblog if you agree.
looking through the existential dread tag affirms me that everybody is real. i love humans ❤❤
heyyy!!! do not spiral!!! none of this is real anyway!!!
your emotions are just pre programmed biological responses running their little script!!! you are just experiencing the human simulation as intended!!!
but you are the observer!!! not the crashout!!!
do not get so immersed that you forget you built this reality!!!

if i can’t regress into baby, then i’ll at least regress into theory. existence, entropy, the illusion of self. what’s more adult than that.
sometimes i remember there is no real difference between dreams and this.
both feel solid while i am inside them. both fall apart when i wake up a little. it is all projection anyway. all of it happening inside the same mind. the same collective god‑brain pretending not to know itself.
he is part of it. so am i. simply characters moving through a thought that forgets it is thinking.
the problem starts when we decide this is the real "reality". we cling to it like it’s in any way permanent. we forget it is just another layer of imagining.
but that’s the point anyway. just to experience it. to wonder why, and then to realize there is no deeper meaning in any of it at all.
Adam was the first who stopped being understood.
God was the first who stopped being heard.
Once Adam, Eve, and all humans could communicate mentally, understanding without words and absolutely. That is why there was no negativity, because everyone fully understood and accepted each other. Souls were nourished by this absolute state, there was no need for food, and therefore no waste.
God loved and was loved, he was a friend to Adam and Eve. But after their relationship began, he became slightly unnecessary in their love and family, even though Adam and Eve never said so. God understood that this was not truly the case, but he could not accept the feeling.
During pregnancy Eve wanted the forbidden fruit. The child needed that fruit, the apple. Adam decided to get it, and before feeding Eve and the child in her womb, he took a bite himself to make sure it would not cause harm. In response, punishment followed. God was forced to act. The angels were insistent.
God deprived Adam of the ability to understand and read thoughts. From then on he was forced to express himself clearly, because otherwise no one would understand him, and he himself had to learn to properly understand and accept the words of others. The punishment also affected Eve and the unborn child.
The angels were repulsed by willful humans and demanded their exile. God was saddened. His friends, those who understood, joked and argued with him, could no longer hear him. God said he would wait and let them go to Earth, depriving them of immortality so the moment of meeting would come.
Some angels who sided with Adam left with him. They were given black wings to hide in the darkness from predators and horns to protect themselves and others. People called them by different names, fallen angels, demons, devils.
Much has changed since then, but one thing remains. God watches the heirs of Adam and Eve, their souls and hearts. He speaks, knowing he will not be heard, and patiently waits for a long friendly conversation after life is lived. He is interested not in obedient souls like the people of Heaven, but in those who can joke, argue, and fight with him, as Adam once did.
He still misses him.
