Become Expert in Management of Portfolio® Foundation
The MoP® certification scheme has been developed to offer two levels of certification, Foundation and Practitioner. AXELOS has accredited PeopleCert as our Examination Institute (EI) and PeopleCert then accredits a network of Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs), including their trainers and course material. The ATOs and accredited trainers offer MoP training courses and examinations.
Course Overview
Management of Portfolios (MoP) provides advice and examples of how to apply principles, practices, and techniques that together enable the most effective balance of organizational change and business as usual.
This course engages with the students to ensure that theory is embedded and delegates feel confident in the practical application of MoP™.
Foundation Examination
Purpose of the Foundation Certification
The purpose of the Foundation certification is to confirm that you have sufficient knowledge and understanding to work as an informed member of a Portfolio Office or in a range of portfolio management roles. The Foundation certification is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner certification.
Target Audience
This certification is aimed at those involved in a range of formal and informal portfolio management roles encompassing investment decision making, project and program delivery, and benefits realization. It is relevant to all those involved in the selection and delivery of business change initiatives including: members of Management Boards and Directors of Change; Senior Responsible Owners (SROs); Portfolio, Program, Project, Business Change and Benefits managers; and business case writers and project appraisers.

Course Objective
The objective of the course is to enable a student to understand the MoP principles, cycles, practices, techniques, roles and documentation. This will enable them to work as an informed member of a Portfolio Office or in a range of Portfolio Management roles.
Specifically, they will know and understand the:
Scope and objectives of portfolio management and how it differs from programme and project management
Benefits from applying portfolio management
Context within which it operates
Principles upon which successful portfolio management is based
Approaches to implementation, the factors to consider in maintaining progress, and how to assess the success of portfolio management
Purposes of the portfolio management definition and delivery cycles and their component practices, and relevant techniques applicable to each practice
Purpose and key content of the major portfolio documents
Scope of key portfolio management roles
Route to Certification
You must pass the Foundation exam before the Practitioner exam, either on the same day or separately. If you have previously passed the Foundation exam, you qualify to sit the Practitioner exam without needing to re-sit the Foundation.
If you sit the Foundation exam only, and pass, you will receive a Foundation examination certificate. However, if you sit both the Foundation and Practitioner exams on the same day, and pass both, you will receive a Practitioner examination certificate only.
