Who you worship is important. Worship determines what your life revolves around, who has the top priority. The only One Who is worthy of your worship is God. If we take a look at all that He’s created, from the night sky to steep mountains to lush valleys, we can see His mastery, His control, His Peace, & His love for us. I say love because God made a world perfectly habitable for us to live in. Not in boredom either, but in wonder & awe! However, humanity has often deceived themselves into worshiping the created rather than the Creator Himself. The devil loves this! If he can take our attention from God, where it’s supposed to be, he can easily lead us astray. Even good things like family or work can become bad things when we put them ahead of God. That makes them idols. Abraham had to be willing to sacrifice his own son in order to prove his loyalty to God. This seems wrong to many, but we must remember Who God is. God is our Most High. Our Alpha & Omega, our Beginning & End. It was Him Who sent Jesus to die on the cross, saving all of humanity. He even went so far as to give us the Holy Spirit so that we would be empowered to obey Him & resist the devil. I can’t think of anyone else more deserving of our Glory. I urge you today to give yourself a heart check. Where are your priorities? Who/What is competing for the throne of your heart? Whatever it is, name it. Bring it before God & put it in its rightful place! It was never meant to be your source of Life. Only God can! Jeremiah 2:13 describes God as a fresh spring full of loving water while things other than Him are cisterns. A cistern is a vessel used to carry items. Broken cisterns May hold water, but only for a short period. You need the source itself to get a fresh, clean, lasting supply.
