the former substation was in operation from its opening in the 1920s until 1989. because of its architecture, the plant used to be called the cathedral of electricity. after it was shut down, it was completely renovated from 1999-2001. In the meantime, it has become an office and event location with a variety of uses.

renovation planned

after hamburg in black and white, now berlin in colour with pictures from the summer of 2021. been there again after a long time and discovered something new alongside the well-known. here is a building of the humboldt university which quite inconspicuously takes up an entire street. the people rushing along it or waiting give the whole thing a bit of colour and variety in all the geometric austerity.
