He thought he’d gotten good enough at compensating for his lack of sight to actually venture out on his own for a change and to his credit, despite his uneasiness at being out beyond his usual little haunts and venturing further than his brief little jaunts, he’d actually done pretty damn well for himself that day.

He was in a good enough mood as a result that when he accidentally rubbed shoulders with someone passing on his blind side, it didn’t dampen his mood too much.

His ears did flatten into his hair though and he jerked away from the poor person he’d brushed against (not quite having bumped into her but definitely having made contact) as if he’d been burned.

He heard her footsteps approaching long before he saw her and yet he remained precisely where he was, inhaling slowly, stood over the body of a scruffy Hyur in a worn tunic and slops.

In one hand, he held a knife, dripping thick red blood from the tip while the other was clamped to his midriff, from where a spreading stain of blood could be seen beneath his hand, the source of the blood trail she'd followed.

"Why?" he asked quietly, and it was unclear whether he was speaking to Evyana as she approached or if the question wasn't one to be answered.

"Why throw your life away like that?"

He lifted his hand from his side a moment, peered at the blood there before he pressed it back, barely seeming to feel the wound left by his attacker's weapon.

As far as writing them goes? Yeah, usually.

Picking up Maru as a muse was a deliberate choice and continues to be one with every interaction because he's the opposite of the muses I usually find myself drawn to.

I usually gravitate towards more angsty characters, ones with tragic pasts or presents that kind of determine their behaviour or outlook until a ship partner comes along and changes those things for the better. They're usually protags too - I'm not good at picking up side-characters.

The ascian shouted at the elezen angrily, not letting her speak. As much as she tried to talk to him it didn't seem that Fandaniel wanted to listen. He pointed at her as a certain lunar dragon descended from the skies, growling with the urge to use some attack at any moment.
