This is the day I buried my father. As children, sometimes we grieve a relationship early. It could be a friend or a family member. People will ask us, "Are we okay?" The answer is, yes. We have had time to process and make sense of the lack of connection in the relationship. The disconnect could be from not being in each other's lives every day, being weird on the phone, or just not knowing what to say.
As I attended the funeral, I was able to be renewed with family members and reconnect with those I had reclused from. There was no malice in my heart toward any of those people. I had just been silently suffering with my own personal mental health issues in the past. Although it took death to bring us together, I gained an even larger family.
If you have discontinued a relationship/friendship due to lack of communication. I want to invite you to reconsider connecting with those people.
