With everyone focussing on everything they achieved in 2024, I just want to say it’s okay if all you did was survive.
And if that’s your goal for 2025 too that is fucking amazing. I’m proud of you.

Slowly going deaf is shit. Being aware of it is shit. But what is shitter is learning sign language only to realise that unless your friends/colleagues etc also learn it, it’s pointless.
People don’t get that chronic pain is chronic and real. Like yes I might cry because I’m too hungry or tired or anything but you bet your ass I can handle more physical pain then the majority of people. I can dislocate my hip and not complain but if I’m hungry or I’m oversocialised, you bet there will be tears.
That doesn’t make my pain any less real or me any “softer” because I cry at “stupid” things.
Things no one ever told you were trauma symptoms:
Finding it hard to feel “appropriate” emotions for certain situations
Feeling like you don’t deserve praise or success
Difficulty connecting with your body
Second guessing everything you do
Asking for help is a terrifying concept
Chasing something new rather then sitting with emotions
Always being busy so you don’t have time to feel etc
Feeling like you are “too much” for others even if you are barely in the room
The worst bit about being chronically ill is having your co-workers think you’re just dramatic when you complain about being ill because it happens more then you’d care to admit but don’t realise it takes a lot for you to get to the point of admitting you need to go home and most people would be phoning in sick everyday with you’re baseline issues.

When you keep raising the bar, it’s hard to notice the progress.
Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.
Your brain lies to you all the time.
