One of my favorite Alice Walker short stories turned into a short film some years back. "Everyday Use". It had a huge impact on my activism, education, and writing my own fiction. Keeping Black culture close as a living, breathing, useful gift to navigate life, and not relegate it as a prop to cosplay with as an aesthetic. Blackness is a daily blessing to me, and the things we make with our hands or minds are more valuable than gold when we pass them down properly.
