saw another post about voting and like. the reasoning to convince people to vote is always āto stop the republicans from doing even worse shitā and like isnāt that just fucking unbearably depressing? thatās it? we vote for democrats not because we believe in their ability to pass legislation we care about but because at least weāll save ourselves some more time before it all falls to authoritarianism. is democracy really working out for us if this is how itās going? i am almost 19 and this has been how it is my whole life and i feel so worn down. all i hear is talk and platitudes and i get emails from democrats as a call to action and we have the house and the senate and the presidency but it doesnāt fucking matter. sure iāll vote in my very blue district and iām sure the country will be saved.
