I heard a podcast with @jennakutcher the other day. She gave great advice about inner dialogue being our worst enemy. She shared a tip about growing social channels organically - specifically Instagram - and said that she forced herself to show her face in photos every day for 30 days. Kutcher explains that her audience almost tripled in that time. If you’ve followed me for an extended period, you know that I rarely show my face in photos. I’ve popped up more frequently over the past year, but for the first eight years of this journey, I NEVER showed my face. Why? I looked too fat, too old, too tired, my beard looked stupid, my hair was too long, my hair was too short, my nose looked punched in, my eyes were bloodshot…I’ll stop. You get the point. Unless you tell the voice inside your head to fuck off, your inner dialogue will keep you from doing millions of things in this life. Yesterday, I posted a photo of my face. Here’s one for today. I’m going to do it again tomorrow. I’m aiming for 30 straight days. A few of the photos will involve notes. Most will not. Some images will be at the worst moment of the day. Hopefully, the good moments outnumber the bad. I took this photo of my run tonight. Usually, I’m an AM runner, so I only get to see the giant fireball rise. Tonight, I got to watch it during quitting time. I’ve got my challenge. Now, what’s your challenge going to be? What does the inner voice always talk you out of doing? 1/20-(4 miles & core) today is basically a scholl Saturday because we don’t have class tomorrow! However it still feels like a Sunday to me. Okay it’s so cold today. It’s actually painful. A couple days of this and I’m already over it. I woke up and went to church instead of the gym mostly because I couldn’t get myself to run outside yet. After that I had brunch with my friend as I do! I literally eat so much food when I eat with her because I’m trying to get my moneys worth. Then I did some homework and went to office hours and attempted more math homework. Have I said lately that I hate math?
Eventually I made myself get up and go to the gym. I started by running a mile there and it was actually so painful. The wind was hitting my face and I was so unhappy. Then I walked to warm up more and ran two miles with some sprints mixed in. I’m still having some foot issues and back and hip and whatever so I’m not training for anything right now until I get a pt appointment. I’m going to try and set that up this weekend so I can get in there in a few weeks. Anyway then I walked more and then I did some core and stretched a little. You can tell that it’s getting slightly closer to spring because it’s staying light until 5.
Dinner was lowkey really bad because it was just French toast sticks and gross apples. So I made oatmeal and yogurt instead. Then I attempted to do some homework but I was really all over the place at night and really annoyed. I just got really anxious for a variety of reasons.
I was also in a bad mood later in the day for a variety of reasons. I find myself getting overwhelmed a lot this year. Life just happens to be a lot and the people around me don’t always help. Anyway I didn’t sleep good but that is life. Onto the next day.
