The way Ienzo has been raised is so twistedly hilarious to me like. Like okay guy called Ansem the Wise adopts this tiny child whose parents have died horribly, possibly to the point of traumatizing him so bad he's become nonverbal. But the thing is Ansem the Wise is like a king, he's got king stuff to do, so he can't really watch this kid all day. Which is fine, fair enough, it takes a village, except then instead of getting like. a nanny. Which you assume he'd be able to do as The King. Ansem just regularly drops him in the lap of like thr lead lab assistant. And BBS Even does seem like a decent guy but he's also a lab guy who later becomes Vexen, he knows fuck-all about childcare, so he sticks to what he knows and dresses the child in a tiny lab coat that doesn't fit him right and makes him do unspecified calculations??? And yells at him when he gets them wrong?? And then Ansem the Wise only shows up when he doesn't have to be the one disciplining the child and takes him out to get ice cream and they don't even get Ienzo' favorite flavor, they get Ansem's favorite flavor every time.
