Doctors in Canada have said euthanasia for newborn babies who are born with disabilities āmay be an appropriate treatmentā, as concerns grow about the expansion of Canadaās euthanasia and assisted suicide programme.
Speaking on behalf of the Quebec College of Physicians (CMQ) to the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying, Dr Louis Roy previously recommended that euthanasia be introduced for babies with āsevere deformationsā and āvery grave⦠medical syndromesā. Earlier this week, the CMQ reiterated their position.
Wesley J. Smith, a senior fellow at the Discovery Instituteās Center on Human Exceptionalism, said āCanada has jumped so enthusiastically into the euthanasia abyss that I have little doubt that infanticide will eventually be allowed there. Itās only logical. If killing is an acceptable answer to suffering, why limit the killing to adults?ā.
Really just sounds like Canada wants to avoid caring for disabled and suffering people in their country.
Hey, unrelated to the PokĆ©mon stuff. You donāt have to answer this, I just thought it would be disrespectful to frame it in character so to speak. But I just got news today that an animal I knew of was euthanized. It was the kind option. When the owner said it, even before explaining the whole situation, I had accepted it. So, as sad and sudden as the news was⦠I wanted to say thank you. To your dedication to realism, and your discussion of euthanasia that made it⦠normal I guess. Acceptable. Iām still having big emotions about it, donāt get me wrong. But I think it genuinely helped to be able to accept so quickly that it wasnāt the euthanasia that hit me like this, but the animal. And for that I thank you. I didnāt need it to be justified that it was the kindest option, that dragging it out wouldāve hurt him more. I get to mourn the memories in peace. And that brings me more closure than I thought it would. So thank you.
//thank you for sharing your story. this is why i find it so important to talk frankly about euthanasia, even in a fictional setting. this blog is something i do for fun, but i'm also an animal educator and caretaker, and it's very gratifying to know that the things i say here have a positive impact on people's relationship with real animals. i really appreciate you sharing this, and i wish you all the best in mourning and remembering your companion.

I say this with all the gentleness in my heart. If you know you cannot make the decision to euthanize, you are not ready for pet ownership.
Itās funny. I took a loved one off of life support and then watched them suffer for days and then I have some pretty awful health problems that make me suffer. And itās awful. So awful. So Iāve always been very pro euthanasia. It probably seems so cold but having gone through it personally. God. I canāt ask my animals to suffer for my tender heart.
It's not cold at all. It is generally considered an act of love, to put someone else's wellbeing before your own comfort because you care about them.
Hi so Iām in the hospital right now but Noelia Castillo Ramos from Spain is going to be euthanized today. She was raped as a teenager, attempted suicide, became disabled, and she is now going to be killed by her government. The same government that failed to protect her, would now rather execute her. She cannot walk, has chronic pain, and is 25 years old. She is going to die not because of dignity but because a system failed her. Is her death going to fix the trauma she endured? Is it going to stop the system from failing anyone else? Noelia is a human being, not tragedy porn. She deserves care. She deserves life.
