Colonial building along the banks of the River Ethiope. Shot this during my last visit to Sapele with my mum. . The major industry in Sapele at the time (probably also today) revolved around timber. AT&P (African Timber & Plywood) was the main beneficiary. That is until smaller players came & spoiled the market for them. With all the trees being felled there na all of us go still suffer am last last. . I took this photo while we were waiting for confirmation that we would be allowed to take photos of the buildings. . We were told the current owner was going to bring the buildings down so I doubt this will still be standing today. #tbt #throwbackthursday #sapele #ethiope #artsymoments
It amazes me how some of the shots I get can boil down to luck/being blessed. Kind of like a really long "decisive moment." My guide on this trip (the way I show up and just find guides sef) decided that we first go to see the source of the River Ethiope in Umuaja before taking a look at the river from the bridge in Abraka. On our way back from Umuaja we stopped to see the river from the bridge and found these boys swimming and generally jumping off the bridge. They were cooling off after work and a pickup van was waiting to take them back to town. I doubt these shots would have happened if we had stopped by the bridge before going to Umuaja. I guess I'll never know for sure. #abraka #ethiope #umuaja
