Imagine an AU where Bruce had both Ethan Bennett and Harvey Dent as best friends. Despite having a lot of different things going on in their lives they still make time to shoot some hoops with each other or grab a coffee sometimes.
And then one-by-one, both of Bruce’s best friends go bad. Suddenly it’s not just his parents he lost but two of his buds who have been there when most people weren’t, who he felt he could confide in even if he couldn’t tell them everything; whom he’d even considered telling he was the Batman.
And now not only are they gone, lost in the madness of their own minds, but he has to fight them when they get out of control.
And this is why Batman works alone.

In 2004's The Batman, they couldn't use Harvey Dent so they created Ethan Bennett:
He's Bruce's best friend instead, and he's one of two Detectives assigned to track and take down Batman (alongside Detective Yin). He inevitably gets captured by Joker and tormented for a bit before being chemically turned into the first (and technically the second) Clayface:
And his character arc goes over how much of a struggle it is to rehabilitate, even when you really really want to just be yourself again — and how easy it is to give it up when everybody already assumes you're a monster.
If Ethan and Bruce's relationship is anything like BruHarv/TwoBats, it's just meant to be, bruh 🥹
I've been thinking about the different Clayfaces and the Mudpack from the original comics and I've been thinking of a multiverse one with the most recent/popular versions of Clayface
I'm mainly thinking of Batman the Animated Series Matt Hagen, Ethan Bennett from the 2004 The Batman, Basil Karlo from Batman Caped Crusader, and Clayface from Creature Commandos season 1 (It's unclear/not confirmed of Clayface in that show is Matt Hagen from the Clayface movie, so I'm just putting him in here)
I'm not entirely sure what the dynamic would be between the four of them, but I think it would be really funny.
Side comment, but I think that DC should bring back Preston Payne in some way shape or form. He's such an interesting character from his moments in the comics and the people yearn for more tragic Clayface.

One of the best original additions to this show.
man. Man. Ethan Bennett is such a good character. I know he's a mash-up of Two-Face with the killing joke plotline, but 2004 The Batman had such a good character on their hands. it just kinda sucks that after s2 he becomes near obsolete and never really revisited. I think he would've proved a very interesting foil to Jason's stuff if the series kept on going.
