NUMBER ONE: boreo
i feel like this one's self explanatory guys. they ACTUALLY KISS (not a thing applicable to every ship here, cough byler cough), and in the book they're like 100% definitely in love and implied to get together in the future. gay rights!
NUMBER TWO: byler
"but tumblr user elwinged," you may say, "byler was queerbaiting! we never got a fulfilling ending for will and mike!" to which i wholeheartedly agree, so this may be a kinda hot take. regardless of queerbaiting! stranger things as a whole DID have byler buildup and beautifully cinematographic scenes of them together, plus i think you can actually take the whole of ST incl. s5 as canon and there is still space for byler, because they leave for college and THAT is the perfect place for mike queerler to go on a journey of self discovery. the floor is still OPEN guys i'm TELLING YOU THEY HAVE A CHANCE!! i love second chance romances and there is abso the fuck lutely space for that in the canon byler narrative. can you tell i'm passionate about byler.
and coming in hot at NUMBER THREE: reddie
who woulda thunk! also a controversial take lmao because just like byler, there's definitely space for reddie in the 27 years between part 1 and part 2 of IT where something COULD'VE happened and they forgot about it because, you know, the clown. so why is reddie third? because IT is a tragedy. as beautiful as reddie is and as canon as they are in terms of gestures of love, to me i can't categorise them as happy because eddie dies. he dies and there is no way for me to separate them being happy and laughing in their teenage years from the knowledge that twenty seven years later eddie will be dead and richie will be mourning a love that was never realised, and will likely be mourning him forever. they could be so beautiful but you can't separate them from the tragedy and that's the real kicker of it all. i'm normal about them.
