Summary: To feel her so close... her warm body hiding behind her cold, shivering movements was more than Arondir could bear. "You should know that if i keeping you so near to me it can be dangerous".
The dark night covered the swampy expanse, where only the glare of the fire illuminated a few narrow paths among the trees. The air was heavy with moisture and the smell of the earth, and the silence was broken only by the crackling of wood burning in the fire. After the battle with the monster that had crawled out of the swamp, the three travelers sat around the fire, tired and covered in mud. Isildur had been sleeping for a long time with his hands over his face from the fire. Only Estrid and Arondir silently contemplated the flames.
“Aren't you afraid?” asked with a playful voice Estrid and turning to Arondir.
“No,” he answered briefly, keeping his eyes on the flames.
“Don't you want to talk to me?” she sat down closer, her movements were smooth, but there was a certain determination in them.
Arondir frowned, his pursed lips betraying his inner irritation, but he did not respond to her teasing glance.
Estrid decided to hurry things along. She stood up, taking a few steps toward the dark lake nearby. Her movements were graceful, even now, in this dirty environment.
“I'm going for a swim,” she said, glancing over her shoulder. “And you?”
Arondir could not let her go alone in such a dangerous area. “I'm coming with you,” he said sternly, trying to look indifferent. “I still don't trust you.”
Estrid smiled, even if it was only a small gesture, she knew he wasn't telling the truth. “Well, if you're so distrustful, then come with me.”
Their footsteps reached the shore of the lake, where the water reflected the cold stars. Estrid stopped, undressing by the water. She shrugged her shoulders and smiled at him. “What, you don't even want to look?”
Arondir couldn't help but notice how alluring her movements were, but he still kept his distance, trying not to violate his inner desire to maintain control.
Estrid came closer, looking at him. “Arondir” her voice was low and warm. “You will not stand aside, will you?”
Arondir could not look away. His heart was clenching from the incomprehensible feelings he had been hiding. He wanted to be closer, but the inner barrier did not allow him to do so.
“I will stay away,” he said, although his voice was not as firm as usual. His eyes sparkled in the darkness, and though he tried to keep a distance between them, his soul longed for something else. His heart was responding to her presence.
Estrid looked at him with a sly smile. “As you wish... though your eyes tell me otherwise.”
Arondir stood there, lost in thought, watching Estrid as she removed her dirty clothes and approached the water. His heart began to beat a little faster, and although he tried to look calm, emotions were raging inside him. His eyes involuntarily glided over her figure, pausing at every movement.
How much he wanted to get closer, to put his arm around her shoulders and feel the warmth of her skin. He often found himself watching her plump lips, which seemed so close.
But no, he couldn't let that happen. His duty was to protect, to be on guard. All these emotions and desires had to remain hidden, he could not afford to be weak.
He turned away, trying to calm his heart, which was trying to break this thin barrier between them. All these feelings, this attraction that he tried to hide, could not become a reality.
Estrid plunged into the cold water, feeling all the dirt and fatigue wash away. The water was dark, and only the pale light from the fire reflected on the surface, creating a soft glow. She took a deep breath, feeling a little lighter. She enjoyed the silence around her for a few minutes, but when she came back to reality, she realized that Arondir was not looking at her. She couldn't help but notice his restraint, which he had so carefully demonstrated, and it only gave her more confidence.
Getting out of the water, she slowly began to dress, making it clear that she was in no hurry. She knew that his eyes would not turn to her, but that did not stop her from acting on the edge of his endurance anyway.
“You really don't want to see it?” she smiled, though she didn't expect an answer, keeping her eyes on his back.
Arondir did not move. He did not have the strength to go against his inner convictions. So, leaving the distance, he decided to go first, heading for the fire.
When they returned, the night had grown even colder. Estrid felt the cold quickly penetrate her body.
"Now I'm definitely cold" she mumbled laughingly, walking up to Arondir and stopping in front of him. "Would you like to warm me up, Arondir?"
His face froze. He did not answer immediately, silently glancing down at her pursed lips and cold shoulders, which her clothes barely covered. He felt a strange excitement inside, but it still didn't seem to be enough to break his reticence.
"I can't do this," he finally said.
Estrid just smiled slightly, not seeming disappointed. She came even closer to him, practically licking her lips as their eyes met. "Well, would it be better if I turned into an ice?" her voice became even softer.
To feel her so close... her warm body hiding behind her cold, shivering movements was more than Arondir could bear. "You should know that if i keeping you so near to me it can be dangerous".
Estrid hadn't expected this from him. She took another step toward him, and her smile was light and mocking. “You're not at all what you seemed,” she said trying to hide her pleasure at having broken his invisible boundaries.
Arondir, though he tried to keep his cool, could actually feel something changing in him. She was making him feel alive, despite all the heavy sadness of years and losses.
They sat down by the fire, which was glowing weakly. The air was chilly, but the fire was already giving off a gentle warmth that spread around them. Estrid could not stand the cold any longer, and without saying a word, she just leaned against Arondir.
Arondir was slightly surprised by her action, but he felt his own body responding to her closeness. He could have pulled away, but something inside him seemed to prevent him from doing so. He allowed her to stay close to him, even though his heart was beating at an incredible rate.
Over time, her breathing became steady, and he realized that she had fallen asleep. All traces of tension had disappeared from her face, and she looked so vulnerable.
Arondir gently, almost without touching her, ran his hand through her hair, gently pushing back a few strands that had fallen into her face. Her skin was warm and soft. His fingers touched it only briefly and he could feel every touch stirring up the feelings he had been so afraid of.
When Arondir saw that Isildur was still asleep, he gently picked up Estrid and placed her on his cloak, which was spread out on the ground. He carefully covered her so that she would not freeze in the night and left her alone for a moment, as if trying to hide everything that had happened.
He stayed close by, still watching her carefully. In the morning, Isildur would probably not notice anything.
“It doesn't matter” he whispered quietly to himself, looking at the night sky, which seemed as distant and incomprehensible as his own feelings for this woman.

Summary : He had a dream. She appeared in it. Estrid.
Arondir was lying on the bed, his face hidden under the shadows that fell through the narrow window. His eyes were closed, and his thoughts were far away, immersed in the fog of dreams. A light breeze caressed his skin, and everything was quiet. But in the silence of the night, his mind could not find peace.
He had a dream. She appeared in it. Estrid. She stood in front of him, her dark hair falling in waves over her shoulders. And her lips, full and expressive, were stretched in a light smile.
"You know that you annoy me, right?" her voice was gentle, but there was something in it that made his heart beat faster.
Arondir was at a loss for words. He felt his heart begin to flutter, and even in his sleep he could not take his eyes off her. She was so real.
"What do you want from me?", her voice sounded in such a way that it caused a wave of desire in him that he could no longer suppress.
She came even closer, and her gaze became even more piercing. Arondir could not resist. Her presence fill his mind. He could feel her warmth, her scent, her tenderness, the taste of her lips.
"I know what you want, but I can't give it to you", she whispered, her lips almost touching his sharp elven ear. Arondir closed his eyes and began to gasp at the feel of her gentle kisses on his jaw.
But just as he was about to take a step forward, the dream began to dissipate, and he was back to seeing only darkness. His mind could not stop it, and he felt reality returning again. He woke up with a heavy breath, and his heart continued to beat faster than usual.
He was alone. In his room, which King Gil Galad had given him. Now he belongs here. But something pulls him back.
