Esther was infected first :)

I think she ate something bad, and suddenly realised she contains multitudes. What's a creature or series of creatures that are very interconnected despite being separate beings? Birch trees. Mint. Mushrooms. Siphonophores.

Something like that, idk she just got very unlucky.

And then she changed. And became more confident, and more powerful, and less lonely, and somehow more lonely at the same time.

So she sought out more friends, friends who had plenty of time to devote to her, and who loved and accepted her as she was. (Strange and off-putting.) And then she just sort of,,kept them.

I imagine it was probably a lot like Kian Stone, from Blood in the Bayou. Or anyone from The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals. which is to say some sort of "hey let me spit in your mouth" interaction

They love each other, they loves themselves, they love being each other and themselves, it's all very unsettling and weirdly wholesome in an odd way

You know that Rose Quartz quote, "Every second you love yourself, that's me, loving you, and loving being you!" yeah that's Espeth and their hosts
