Sally-Anne laughed at the question --- there were quite a few people she would’ve loved to be sorted into Hufflepuff, mainly just because she wished she could see them more often, but none of them really struck her much as Hufflepuff types. The only person who truly came to mind was Tracey; before they’d come to Hogwarts, Sally-Anne had always pictured herself, Hannah, and Tracey ending up in Hufflepuff together, and to this day she didn’t quite understand what it was about Tracey that made her a true Slytherin. Since Tracey was in the circle, however, and quite a few of her Slytherin friends were present, Sally-Anne thought it would probably be best not to voice that out loud. 

“Everyone, obviously,” she laughed instead. “We’re the best house, the most accepting house, and honestly it’s shocking that not everyone wants to be a Hufflepuff in the first place. You should all be here,” Sally-Anne pointed to several of the non-Hufflepuffs in the circle with a giggle.

terry’s not a lightweight, not at all. which is how he knows that he’s already had quite a bit to drink, considering the faint blurriness that’s settled in over his senses. whatever inhibitions he usually has about how he presents himself have faded away, leaving him willing to jump into anything that’s thrown his way. he normally is careful with his words and his actions, weighing them thoroughly before making a decision, but not tonight. he doesn’t want to care. he doesn’t want to be the person he normally is.

which is how he’s ended up here, holding a shot in one hand and looking at ernie. he can’t really remember why they ended up doing this - one of them brought it up, and it seemed like it wasn’t the absolute worst idea. “here,” he says, handing the lime wedge to ernie, motioning for him to put it in his mouth.  

he makes quick work of it then - licking the spot on ernie’s neck and sprinkling the bit of salt on it. he should be weirded out by this, in theory - he should feel uncomfortable doing this with someone he doesn’t really now, let alone another guy. but he’s in the middle of grabbing the shot and he realizes he couldn’t care less. 

with a grin, he holds his shot up in a celebratory cheers, before dragging his mouth over the spot on ernie’s neck with the salt on it. terry then throws the shot back, before moving to ernie’s mouth and pulling the lime out and biting into it. tossing the remainder of it into the wastebin, he laughed. “you wanna give it a go?”

in theory, stephen really didn’t care about playing spin the bottle - namely because the only person he wanted to kiss anymore was his boyfriend. but he was one the hosts of the party, after all - and it seemed in bad taste for him to not join in with the rest of the crowd as they gathered in a circle around the green bottle. he was settled nicely in the state between being tipsy and full on drunk, so as he watched everyone begin to spin the bottle and kiss one another, he was the type who’d cheer and holler to encourage them at it.

as ernie went up to spin the bottle, stephen let out a hoot, even as the bottle started to slow down and eventually ended up pointing straight at him. “come on, macmillan,” he called out, only sloshing some of his drink on himself - damn parvati for her dare, being shirtless through the whole party was actually a lot colder than he figured it’d be. he shuffled towards the center of the circle to meet ernie halfway. “hope you’re ready for the best kiss of your life!” his voice was teasing as he laughed again.

he reached forward and took ernie’s face in his hands, before kissing him. it’s quick and all stephen can really taste is the sour aftertaste of whatever liquor they’ve both been drinking, but he pulls away with another laugh after. “that’s another roommate kissed!”

noah said ‘ truth or dare ’ to ernie, and he couldn’t help but look surprised when the hufflepuff replied dare. it came as a small shock. the expectation was that he would have said truth from all that he knew about ernie ( which, to be frank, was very little if he were being honest ), and the question died quickly on his lips. still, he didn’t hesitate for too long. “ macmillan, why don’t you take three shots of firewhiskey, come back, then tell us all a secret about yourself. something that might actually be interesting if you’re not too scared — but if you are, i’m sure most of us won’t poke too much fun at your being chicken. ”  there came a pause. “ bring me a shot, too, while you’re over there !! ”

If someone had told Parvati a day ago that tonight she’d be pouring shots for herself and Ernie Macmillan (whom she’d always regarded as perhaps one of the least fun people to ever exist, no matter how much Hannah loved him), she probably wouldn’t have believed them unless she Saw it herself. Now, however, the room was already starting to feel appropriately hazy as she handed Ernie one of the tiny plastic cups, filled to the brim identically to her own. Parvati laughed, raising hers up. 

“Ten points each from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, then?” She laughed before tossing the shot back, grimacing at the taste before smiling once again and throwing her arms suddenly around Ernie in a hug. “You lot throw a great party, by the way.”
