[ image I.D. UK news Man arrested after dressing as Grim Reaper on hospital roof and staring at patients ]
I can't tell you how much nickvincentbarbera's [on tiktok] novel accurate Erik cosplay means to me 🥀
the fact that I just discovered them now makes me feel that I've been living underground like an old hermit with the face of death, dramatically smashing the keys of an organ because that's how you solve your problems.
We all have our crosses to bear.
YAYYYY I CAN FINALLY DRAW HIM

In defense of the 2026 movie of Le Fantôme de l'Opéra:
~ Is it 'The Phantom of the Opera'?
No. Only by its name sake.
~ Does it have elements of the story?
Yes, but they are pretty generalized. It should be known that it is very loosely inspired by Gaston Leroux's novel.
~ Which an amazing Phantom researcher, Jessica Mason, has discussed France's relationship with the story. She also talks about this movie as well.
~ There is technically an 'opera ghost', but he is not Erik. He is an actual ghost with a completely different name [Ernest Dupré].
~ same goes for the main female character [Anastasia], who isn't even a singer. She is a dancer.
~ So it's safe to say that it is not an adaptation of the Phantom of the Opera, but rather is a different story with Phantomy vibes.
~ the Gothic (romance) aesthetic, hello? Gorgeous. Cinematic, yes.
~ though it isn't what we wanted as a Phandom, it looks beautiful, and it has an essence/vibes of the story.
~ At least we get to have a movie that is in a location as majestic as Palais Garnier.
~ This trailer reminds me of the French version of La Belle et la Bête, where it also had elements and vibes of the Beauty and the Beast, but it also was completely different at the same time. (I suppose the comparison isn't fair, at least they both had the same names), yet the costuming, the set design, the magical elements, and the backstory is completely different from Disney's. So take that as you will. It still holds a beautiful story and some elements that we are familiar with; I can expect the same with Le Fantôme de l'Opéra.
~ Though it is not the story we know and love, I am still intrigued, and I will definitely see it when it is available to me.
~ What are your thoughts?
I understand your passionate opinions, and I encourage you to add to the conversation, but I must insist that you remember to be open-minded and compassionate towards each other.
Thank you 😊
