I noticed there was something going on with Eric’s arm. You can see this pretty clearly in Return’s thumbnail. I got curious and looked at his file for a closer look.

Sure enough, it’s there. If you notice, it uses the same texture as other metallic objects on him like his belt buckle or metal trim of his hat. I wanted to see if this was present on other versions, so I went looking.

Aftermath told a different story. It looks like he has bandages wrapped around that arm as something is peeking through. His frayed sleeve is telling too. Perhaps he got infected?

It’s hard to say what’s happening in Embers, but I think it’s just his sleeve? Idk someone can correct me on that. This would make sense though but it would ultimately depend on what timeline of events these versions take place. I know a timeline exists somewhere but I can’t find it.

Anyways, here’s my theory.

Eric accidentally opens the rift and his wife goes blind (as seen in Return). He gets infected in his arm and is forced to amputate it to prevent further infection. He is given a mechanical arm as a replacement.
