Thor Legends: Thunderstrike
We covered Eric Masterson before as part of the larger Marvel universe. He is an architect that Thor befriended and then transferred his powers to in order to save his life. Eric was later deemed worthy to keep the powers, and a mace was forged from Uru for him.
In an adaptation, I think Eric has more than enough to give him a side series, similar to War Machine's and Falcon's. Though maybe starting later. We'll start with him being chosen to take on Thor's power, since Donald is still on Earth. We'd probably have Minotaur and Ulik in the first, with Dario being his boss, and then Bloodaxe in a sequel, and the Wrecking Crew throughout. All casting as previously mentioned.
Marvel Legends: Thunderstrike
Eric Masterson first appeared in 1988 as an architect rescued by Thor who soon ends up mortally wounded, leading to Thor’s powers transferring to him for a time to save his life. He later took up the name Thunderstrike after his tenure as Thor was over.
As Thunderstrike, Eric wields a mace made of the same metal as Mjolnir. He has most of the same strength and durability as Thor, though significantly lessened, with similar control over lightning.
In an adaptation, Eric might be one of the main reasons I’d want to go back to Donald Blake, as I can’t imagine ever seeing Eric appear in the MCU as the story currently stands. Maybe with Thor as Donald, Eric could be the person Odin chooses to be his new champion.
As for casting, I think we do want someone of Nordic origin, just like Thor and Loki and the others. One person I think could do it well is Travis Fimmel.
