Season 2 finale of Beauty and the Beast. In this episode we find some themes and what I love most is beautifully encompasses in this sentence by Catherine to Vincent "...everything that we've been through makes us stronger as a couple." We know that Catherine and Vincent are better together than they are apart when it comes to accomplishing a goal. All along it has been pretty clear that Vincent’s and Catherine’s destinies are linked together. It seems that they started bending towards each other a long time ago, as early as the 1850s; when their ancestors, in fate, found themselves on a parallel journey. Cat recently came into possession of the journal which formerly belonged to her ancestor Rebecca Reynolds. Cat’s ancestor found herself in a stunningly similar situation over a hundred years ago, in love with a beast, Alistair, and willing to protect him at all costs from a beast like Gabe. Rebecca was so consumed with protecting Alistair that she couldn’t see the obvious, and Cat almost fell into the same trap. Luckily, Cat was able to figure out the hidden meaning in Rebecca’s journal before it was too late. She realized that Rebecca didn’t kill Alistair, her actions did. The destiny theme is linked to the title of the episode "Déjà-vu" as well as some others recurring elements that came back into play yet again in this final episode of season 2: the gem, the collar and the taskforce. I loved that Cat would be the one to take Gabe out: Catherine saved his life at the beginning of the season 2 and she ended it in the end of season 2. What a poetic justice, really! However, what I liked best was that she did NOT kill him in anger but in self-defense. Beauty and the Beast ends its second season with a small piece of happily ever after for our VinCat.
YES!!!

Important plot development:
No important plot development
Rating:
9/10 Hatamoto family members
I love this episode. Not only because it’s the first two parter, but because it’s a great case. I like how all the family members think that Takeshi is the culprit. The interaction of the characters in general is so good.
