❅ It probably did seem lazy, living in Seoul for nearly two years, attentively going to her dance practices, doing warm-ups and stretchings every morning, properly using the space her living room offered, but she didn't work out properly, didn't train her muscles additionally to her stamina, didn't exercise them except for dancing. Eventually it had been her doctor, doing a more thorough health check, measuring her like a national athlete rather than the average patient, testing her muscles, looking into the fat ratio of her body, several more tests she had already forgotten, all just ending with one result - training.
To strenghten her body, to aid her durability, to finetune her dancing, she needed better training, even asking further, for a fitting gym, not too far away from her home, not wanting to feel the need to go by car. It had merely taken a day, choosing one of the suggested ones, subscriping to membership, starting the exercises slowly, now already attending the second time this week, late in the evening, enjoying the lack of people busy training. With only few people around it was more relaxing, she could concentrate on herself, pay attention to her body, further thoughts blocked by her earphones, upbeat music filling her ears, added motivation even at this time.
But it was also caused by this, the new exercises, stressing her muscles in a new way, weights making the movements more difficult, entirely different to what she was used to, the gentle or hard flow of music, something easy to handle for her, way unlike the training in gym. Slowly, ignored by pure naivety, it had started to pent up, something she had noticed already last time, the pain to her right leg, aching with every some of the equipments. It hadn't been a hard decision, arranging for an x-ray, meant to check her leg, analyzing the placement and security of the screws, looking at the supporting bars, never having caused problems for the last two years, never having hurt while dancing.
It had started again, the soaring pain, merely a mild thumping in the beginning, signing her to take it slow, to only just finish this set, take a break afterwards. There were only three... two... half-way through the last movement, pushing the seat back, her bodyweight with its half added, meant to train her legs better, the pain became too much, mild aching suddenly turning into burning agony, causing her muscles to give in, crushing down to the starting position, rattles of weight plumping to the ground echoing through the hall. She was lucky with the circumstances, not arousing too much attention, probably due to the lack of a scream, merely choking on air, the dropped weights quickly forgotten by other customers, merely looked over, she had held out the initial first seconds, just enough to skip unwanted curiosity. It was like a countdown, starting at five, arriving at zero, before she gave in, tilting forward to hug her aching leg, shoulders trembling with the shock and pain, latter slowly lessening again, losing its fire, not its power, making it bearable at least. Getting out, back to the changing rooms, to grab her stuff, to head home, meaning to rest her leg, was a plan easier than expected, unable to move her formerly fractured leg too much, even getting up from the equipment a struggle, needing to support herself, just like those few years prior, dealing with the same kind of struggles, the inability to put weight onto her leg.
