voidkeeper’s voidtober days 3-4 - Company
“They never paid us any mind before, but lately this one follows me. It watches me write. It watches me sleep. It stands over my cot as the stone bursts new fissures through my skin, pairing my screams with its own gravely moans of despair.
An attempt in solidarity? A warning? No matter. The only way to understand the Envisioned’s wisdom is to become one myself. Any day now…
In the meantime I’ve come to appreciate the company as my body grows weaker. Perhaps the Outsider himself granted me this usher. Perhaps in my steadfast suffering, I’ve earned his favor.”

For so long, you've prayed for peace. You opened your eyes every morning hoping for a better day and closed them every night wondering when that feeling would come. You awaited that feeling of alleviation, clarity, and confidence that you so desperately envisioned but never quite embodied. You ached for that feeling of having some sense of normalcy and safety after being in seasons that felt almost too uncomfortable to bear. Now, seasons and lessons later, the tide has turned. You look back at those times and appreciate the tears because they taught you more than you ever anticipated, and you clearly see the resilience of the person in the mirror. As you stand here - older, wiser, and more understanding than you've ever been - embrace this moment. Embrace what it took to bring you to this point, and release the pain that ultimately positioned you. You are standing in answered prayers. Now, stand tall.

alright i’m perpetually stuck in shadowheart brainrot, that’s true, but it’s fucking impressive how toddward and larian clowned my expectations the exact fucking same way lmfao. You think Shadowheart will fall into the evil aligned comp category but nope she’s an entirely good person who was always just like that, even the goddess she was gaslit into worshipping couldn’t beat that out of her. Then in Starfield you meet Andreja literally putting a bullet in someone, and are def thinking she may be your more morally flexible companion, she’s of spoopy and mysterious house va’ruun, the space snek cult, but nope nah she too is just a good egg at heart and won’t tolerate murderhoboisms. For two games in a row I intended to have a morally flexible son date who I assumed would be the morally flexible woman but rip to that they just became better people just by knowing and being around the best girls.
When I was about thirteen I made a summer bucket list of things I wanted to do with friends. it was full of things like make smores, take a day trip to the lake, have a picnic with those fancy cucumber sandwiches that probably aren’t even all that good anyway. I suppose it didn’t really matter what was on the list, I just wanted to be able to look back and remember how much fun we had. how warm and bright and happy I felt
The only thing was, I didn’t really have any friends. sure I had people I would talk to at school and others I would sit with at lunch, but I didn’t have anyone I could eat smores with while we avoided the smoke of the campfire. I didn’t accomplish a whole lot on my list, though I did get a few
That same summer I visited my grandma for a couple weeks, something I did a lot when school was out. I showed her my bucket list. she said to me we could make neon bubbles and and paint a big chalk mural outside. I told her it wouldn’t count because it wouldn’t be with my friends, and that just defeats the purpose doesn’t it?
Now whenever I look back to that summer with my bucket list, I don’t think about the fun I had and how bright I felt. I remember how awfully lonely I felt and I think about the disappointed expression on my grandma’s face when I refused to paint a mural with her. funny how things like that work out
