So let’s call this a COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. A REAL SANCTUARY: - There is NO Riding - There is NO Bathing - There is NO Bare Back Riding - There are NO Chains - There are NO Ropes - There is NO Mahout riding the elephants. Elephants are left to roam free and interact with each other. Any venue offering rides and bathing, such as this unnamed location in Bali is NOT ethical nor is it a genuine sanctuary. We observe the following from this photo. - Mahout on the back of the #Elephant - The Mahout is holding something in his right hand, we suspect this is a nail or bullhook head to puncture the elephant, it maintains control over the elephant. - The Elephant is tethered - The Elephant is saddled. (Editors Note: Our research uncovered this is Mason Elephant Park and Lodge in Bali. It’s unethical. It’s most definitely not a sanctuary! It’s a riding camp.) @elephantsbali Mrs West, you are deeply misinformed and uneducated on elephant welfare, it should have been plain to see, however that’s okay we all need to learn, however the first rule for your giant PR machine is to always check your facts before you pose with animals and make such outrageous claims that this is an elephant sanctuary. You clearly don’t know. Find out more because with your millions of followers you could have helped change their lives! via @elephant_news_network ・・・ Controversy prevailed as celebrities and the people spoke out against the Trump Administration’s proposal to overturn the Obama Administrations ban on the import of animal remains from trophy hunts in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Nervousness then prevailed as Trump posted on his social media account that he now views trophy hunts as a “horror show” and that is does not contribute in any way to conservation. It gave a glimmer of hope as agreements were allegedly being secretly passed to allow trophy hunt body parts to be allowed back into the US. Where was this heading? However the courts have finally agreed and ruled against this decision. “The Federal Court of Appeal has invalidated the decision to allow imports of animals parts from Zambia and Zimbabwe”. The US Court of Appeals has shown great wisdom and with this decision the recognition to uphold current laws to protect endangered species. It’s a victory for the animals by the people. The poachers will continue to hunt down and kill elephants as long as the Ivory Trade is allowed to continue. As long as countries disregard their vulnerability our elephants will continue to be killed or be trafficked. Politicians are the ones who need to see the brutality of these killings. Maybe then they will recognise the plight of the Elephant. If they stoop to extend their support to their cronies, @theresamay we are talking to you. If Namibia continues to say ahhh doesn't matter we have plenty of elephants, if South Africa would stand up for wildlife, in general, if Zimbabwe would stop the trafficking, if Hong Kong would support the ivory ban, if China would clamp down on ivory trafficking, if the USA and Europe would stop condoning hunting if, if, if. These are some examples of wildlife negligence. It's a global crisis. IF only we stopped the Ivory Trade then we could have saved them. It's a conversation we don't want to have. Let her be a mother.
