The two books I've seen translated to English are Morangos Mofados (Moldy Strawberries) and Os Dragões Não Conhecem o Paraíso (Dragons) (yes just dragons) (I've never read any of the stories on this book btw)

1. Além do Ponto (Beyond the Point) is my all time favourite. It's the first contact I had with his writing and it occupies a very very special place in me. I may be incredibly biased on this but I think it's beautifully written and it has a hint of tragedy which I ADORE. (Can be found in english in Moldy Strawberries, but if you dig trying to read something of his in Portuguese, I couldn't recommend this one enough)

2. Aqueles Dois (Those Two). Have you watched The Children's Hour? It's great. And this short story is just the vibe. Actually I think it was kinda based on it, it references the movie anyway. (Can be found in english in Moldy Strawberries)

3. Diálogo (Dialogue) is also a classic. It's very short and exactly what it sounds like. I've just reread it through my Withnail & I lenses and had the time of my life. (Can be found in english in Moldy Strawberries)

4. Para uma Avenca Partindo. Okay maybe a weird pick in comparison to the others but this one is great. A little infuriating. The language used is simpler, so maybe interesting to read in Portuguese (?) (I don't think it's translated anywhere)

5. Holocausto. We take a sharp turn in tone for this one, but I also like it a lot. The title might be slightly misleading, as in it's not about the holocaust in the obvious sense of the word. But it's very interesting. (I don't think it's translated anywhere)

AND of course for a longer novel we have 6. Pela Noite from the Triângulo das Águas book. Which very unfortunately is not translated.

And if I were to recommend an entire book, I'd probably recommend Além do Ponto e outros contos, which is actually a collection I think. But it contains my favourite stories overall. Not translated tho </3
