When Will's shoulder was injured, Mack used to FaceTime Rick so he could tell him how to massage the tension/pain out without further injuring him. Will could have just gone to the team trainer or masseuse, but there was something about Mack being the one to bring him relief that was better than even the highest-paid professionals.
Mack has kind of a shit immune system, but insists on playing through everything. He played one game with the worst stomach flu he's ever had ("I threw up in the trash can"), and afterwards, he could barely stand. Will drove him back to Patty's because they were gone for the weekend, and Mack didn't want to risk getting the Thortons sick (even though he'd be in the guest house... whatever, don't look too closely at it). Will stayed up with him all night, rubbing small circles on his back while he slumped over the toilet. Mack eventually fell asleep on the bathroom floor with his head in Will's lap.
Once, they both got COVID at the same time. So, of course, they had to ride it out together, competing for who could have the highest fever (Mack), and arguing over who had to go to the door to pick up the soup Toff had doordashed them (Will).
They both refuse to go to the doctor for anything unless forced to by the coaches. Instead, they text Rick or Grace and then maybe consider following their advice. Idiots!
