Graphics Workshop - 30.11.17-14.12.17

For our Graphics workshop we had to create a poster to promote and be the face of the ‘End of Year Show’ for 2018. The show displays a vast array of subject work and materials from loads of different art students at the college.

For my design, I chose to do a line sketch of the E Block building (where the majority of the show is based) and used watercolour paints to fill in the panels with different shapes/patterns to highlight the variety the art/college holds.

After adding all the relevant information (times, dates, contact info, etc.) I printed an A3 copy to view it from a distance. Upon seeing this I altered a few parts due to the text being clumped up and allowing the top text to be more aligned.

Overall, I’m really happy with the outcome for this workshop as Graphics is my specialist subject and it gave me a chance to explore more skills. The poster is definitely bold and eye-catching and hope it could be the chosen one.

Handed in my sketchbooks and evaluation today for unit 6 - Final Major Project. I have extremely enjoyed this unit and I am grateful of the chance to complete it. It has taught me a lot as have the past two years of this very enjoyable course. Not only have my skills developed in art and design I believe that I as a person have become more confident with myself and I now know that I can do anything I set my mind to.

It has been a very stressful past few weeks working on the FMP but it has all been worth it knowing I have handed in work that I tried my absolute hardest on and that I can now relax a little more. Not too much thought as the end of year show can't set itself up, can it? As amazing as that would be it still can't, however I am quite looking forward to setting it up and to see how all my hard work has pulled off.

A lot achieved today with all of the Art Foundation students pulling together to get the C7/7a and C9 teaching spaces up and ready for the approaching assessments. Lots going on also with guests visiting from other colleges and colleagues and teaching peers coming into the busy art department, with the UAL second year art assessments now underway in E-block also.

All furniture moved and stored, installation spaces prepared and about 55 of the 70 show boards across the 3 rooms, joined, taped and painted. A lot of progress and a lot of laughter. Tomorrow we will finish the spaces and the students will begin to prepare their individual spaces and start to get the terrific artwork up. The assessments start in a week. The End of Year Show is after half term in 3 weeks. (* Details to follow)
