Graceful Painful
You were ballerina clumsy Adding grace to every stumble A dignified poise in every trip and fall graceful painful Your head bounces off the cement steps as you slip from the rail you were trying to hide I should’ve taken you in you know, concussions and alcohol make a real bad mix
Like when you bounced your head off the car door just trying to get out and you find a way to be knocked down Instead, from the ground you’d laugh and let me know that you were ok Skin like iron You were built to crash
It was rare you weren’t bruised but that makes the sweetest fruit and I love the taste
I’m never close enough to save you from the body you seem to control free and easy laughing through a bloody nose and laughing even harder when you sneeze in my face The bathroom bloody nose massacre we repainted the room in splatter deco influenced on your tripping feet
It’s endearing in a way it’s adorable how you bounce right back as if nothing ever happened it’s a skill I remain jealous of
I hope he catches you when you fall
