there is a card game I learned in juvie called castle that I have been teaching some friends of mine who don't play mtg, it's played with regular playing cards and fucks so I'm gonna share it
the goal of castle is to be the first person to run out of cards, you shuffle up and deal out 9 cards without looking, putting 3 face down then 3 face up and keeping three in your hand. this set up is used for each player for basically any number of players but you might need multiple decks if you're playing with a lot of people.
how you dig through the deck is kind of like skipbo you play a card with a higher numerical value then the current card on the stack (ace being 1, Jack being 11, Queen 12, king 13) then once you reach king playing an age and starting over again. you always have a minimum of 3 cards in your hand so each time you go below 3 you draw a card. if you can't play a card you must take the whole pile and can't draw cards until you are below 3 cards in hand.
once you play through the whole deck and you hand is empty you may play from the 3 face up cards, once those three are gone you flip one of you three face down cards, if it plays perfect the turn passes but if it wiffs you take the stack and play from your hand again.
there are 3 special cards, 2's, 7's and 10's. the 2's reset the stack and can be played on any card meaning if the stack has a Jack on top you can play a 2 which resets it down to a 2 so the next play just has to play 2 or a 3. 7's are wild cards that can be any number just need to beat and 8? this 7 is a 9 now. need to reset the stack? this 7 is a 2 now. 10's or "blow ups" remove the whole stack and can be played on any card can't beat a queen? 10 stack empty next player puts a card down.
we played this constantly cause poker was banned for obvious reasons and we played with a ton of variations and rule changes like "slap back" where if you had multiple cards of the same number you could play them all at once and if you had a card that matches the stack you can play it at anytime including on someone else's turn so if they play a 9 and you have two 9's in your hand no matter whose turn it is you can play both of the 9's which was pretty fun!
anyway I just thought y'all would enjoy!
edit: important rule I forgot is you can play any card higher than the one on the stack so if there is a 3 you can play any card higher than 3 so 5 or 8 or 4 it doesn't matter as long as the number is higher
