I'm reading Empowered by James Warren. It's largely funny gag humour about how the main character's power granting super suit keeps getting torn and depowering her at the drop of a hat, and she always gets tied up by the villains to be a laughingstock.
Yes, this did start as fetish art.
Anyway, it's lots of laughs and titillation and weird powers like the guy with a cinder block for a head.
And then there's Willy Pete, a fire elemental supervillain who likes to eat superhuman flesh because it cooks just right instead of burning to ash right away. And that's not the worst he does...
It's so bizarre, the final whiplash is nuts.
Anyway, I do genuinely unironically enjoy this series. Probably post more thoughts later.
Thugboy cooks, he shaves the pussy, he eats the pussy, he gives peptalks, he ties people up according to their preferences, he is fully willing to snipe fuckers with his horde of guns if necessary…the ideal man
the only downsides to Thugboy [if I'm remembering correctly] is that he's canonically depressed (he's working on it) and there's a rapist cannibal fire powered supervillain that's sworn to hunt him down and violate him for trying to con him. Hence why Thugboy is depressed (he witnessed what said villain did to his homies who were in on the con)
the mood whiplash in Empowered can be a wild ride

Bruh I used to read the Empowered comic series (I own the first 7 volumes) and I just remembered that one of the main side characters is like
A weird eldritch being that was imprisoned in alien bandage gear
Boy
Almost forgot about that dude.
I keep meaning to reread but im not ready to feel sad about the hot goth bitch and her doomed Yuri again
Sorry for the spoiler to uh.....fuck idk other Emp-heads
Also maid-man best character don't fucking lie to yourself
Mindfuck said multiple times that her younger brother was a better telepath than her, but it seems more like they have different aptitudes for different types of telepathy.
Spoilers for vol11
Neurospear is great at puppeting people but he can’t work with personalities for shit. Not only did his personality alterations turn him into an off the rails crazy stupid sociopath, his kludge minds(like Willy Pete) turned out just as bad. Meanwhile while Mindfucks puppeting is worse than her brother’s she is great with personalities. She altered herself into a saint with zero character flaws. And she was so good at making emulations of her mind that despite her being dead for months, we’re still finding sleeper agents in people’s minds in vol11! Getting puppeted like she was is probably why she thinks she’s weaker, but her power is just as strong but in a different way.
Maybe I should start an Empowered liveblog or character analysis thing. Because it's good and you people should read it. And I need to talk to people that read it.
But that's for later. For now, I'll leave only with this recommendation and the glory that is Maid Man.
