I know there's already a bunch of Emmanuel!Cas fics but I really want to try my hand at it one day - the amnesia is just too crunchy delicious
Emmanuel is appreciative of his wife's kindness, but he doesn't love her. He lives in a nice house but he knows it isn't home. He doesn't feel things the way he should. He doesn't taste things the way he should. He lives with a constant deep ache of grief and longing in his chest that never goes away, and somehow he knows that the pain isn't his own. He wants - he yearns - but it's not his.
Anyway canon divergence where Cas didn't break Sam's brain and Dean's less conflicted about how much he wants Cas back. He ends up hovering around Emmanuel because he wants his friend back so badly but also thinks it would be better if he left him to his happy new life. But he can't bring himself to leave. They end up bumping into each other like they're drawn together somehow. The pain and longing intensify whenever Emmanuel spends any time with Dean and he can't figure out why. Also he keeps accidentally using his angel powers for stuff and it's funnyyyyy

Misha’s performances as Jimmy Novak and Emmanuel are both so fascinating to me because he brings the exact opposite energy of what I would expect from those characters just based on the script. On paper, Jimmy Novak is a regular guy - ad salesman, religious, family man. But Misha plays him with this unhinged, “Dunkin Donuts blueberry coffee guy” energy. Whereas the opposite is true of Emmanuel. On paper, he’s a much weirder character than Jimmy - an amnesiac with magical healing powers who climbed out of a river and married the first person he met. And yet Misha gives him this very subdued, "clueless but benevolent associate pastor at the local mainline Protestant church” vibe. Anyways, I just think it’s interesting that he doesn’t always make the obvious choice.
