The Trouble with Love by Lauren Lyne
Book Review of The Trouble with Love by Lauren Layne
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Premise/Synopsis: Book four in the Sex, Love, and Stiletto series follows Alex Cassidy and Emma Sinclair. Alex and Emma are college sweethearts who even were about to marry until Emma was left at the alter. Seven years later, Emma and Alex are working at their respective magazine companies. Alex is the editor-in-chief of Oxford Magazine and Emma is in the love/sex department of Stiletto Magazine. However, Emma’s boss goes on vacation and leaves Emma her apartment to stay in due to a leaking situation in Emma’s apartment. But of course... her new neighbor is Alex! Alex is the temporary boss of Stiletto and assigns Emma this assignment of writing an article about her ex’s. Emma’s no longer the Southern Belle she used to be and is now a fierce NYC queen. However, when push comes to shove, Emma is determined to finish off this article strong and wants nothing to do with Alex, but Alex wants her so badly and secretly Emma realizes she does too.
My Thoughts: This book was the first Lauren Layne book and it was so good! I actually didn’t know this was the last book in a series before I picked it up, but now I’ll be going backwards and reading about! Although this is a standalone series that follows different couples in each book, I loved the other couples as well. I loved this book because I love second chance romances especially when the couple is just fated to be together. Lauren Layne did a great job with this one because sometimes second chance romances are not the greatest, but I absolutely loved this one! This book gave me Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City! The atmosphere and setting of this book perfectly set the tone! Emma is such a fierce and sophisticated queen! I can just imagine her and the Stiletto girls walking around New York stylishly dressed like the queens they are! I actually think I liked Emma’s character more than Cassidy’s, but I loved Cassidy too! He was so in love with Emma and they both tried so hard to not be attracted each other which added some delicious angst. And this was pretty slow-burn too. The whole time I was like “Just get together already!” but the wait was so rewarding. I was also really curious why their relationship ended in the first place so finding out was super satisfying (if that’s the right word for it) This had a little miscommunication in it, but the author actually did a really good job with it so even if you don’t like miscommunication in books, I think you’ll like this one.
Cons: None!
Final Thoughts: I would honestly love to see this series or book as a movie or series! I loved the vibes of this book and the Stiletto girls were so bad ass. Great book and I highly recommend it!

He turned to face her, his familiar features shadowed. “Ask me what else I remember.”
She started to turn away, but his hand touched her arm.
“Ask me,” he commanded.
Emma shook her head, feeling both terrified and the most alive she’d felt in years.
He waited patiently until her eyes met his. “I remember us, Emma.”
