i like seeing through Sonic and Emerl's initial relationship how Sonic sees / treats creatures he sees as inferior or without agency. he treats him/it like most people would treat an animal, checking if it's ok, trying to help if it's hurt, taking care of it, giving it a name, giving it pronouns you feel like giving, half expecting it to follow you / obey you.
but here, Sonic also starts training him after being sure he's in condition so he can go on and about on his own. he's against the idea of having people stuck with him, needing his help, and wants everyone to be capable
