As of Saturday, 4-11, I will be staying & sleeping in my car indefinitely; not the best situation with my health issues, but I'm out of options. My plan is to park at a strip mall that has a grocery store, a Dunkin's, and a McD's. I can probably get a hot tea at either place, and sit inside a few hours at a time. The toughest time will be 2-6am, when everything is closed. I'm on two powerful diuretics (to stave off fluid retention) because of the issues with my heart, and not having access to a bathroom that long is going to be problematic.
I got barely any response to my last help post, so I'm just paring it down with the hope it might help get this noticed.
I'm still on medical leave for my heart conditions; I'm at 45% heart efficiency (I don't think that's the exact technical term) & on six types of meds, several of which have side effects that keep me sidelined. My Cardiologist is trying to manage my conditions via meds & lifestyle adjustments, but he truthfully feels I will need a procedure sometime down the line. I finally got to see a Primary Care Physician last week who has forwarded paperwork to Walmart's leave approval company, and hopefully--finally--I'll get approved and can apply for State medical leave coverage. That has a 2-week window, and you can't apply again once you've been declined, so the timing is everything, and the Walmart end has to be thoroughly completed before I can turn to the State. Fingers crossed, it'll be May for a start date to collect 60% of my lost pay.
I'm praying this is the last time I'll need to plead for help. I know I've probably exhausted most of the good will extended to me here, I hate doing this, and I don't want to do it anymore. I'm setting my goal at $900, but I know that is nearly impossible. Still, hope guides me as it has from the start, and the worst that can happen is a no-go. Any help that anyone can manage would be as heaven sent.
$70 / $900

I’d like to help support and advertise for my best friend who is dealing with living homeless after moving out with his cats, Scorpius and Spirit, from a state that supported hate towards trans and lgbtq+ and just went through transitioning. He does some really awesome artwork and if you guys like what he makes, go ahead and purchase some of his work off my Redbubble page. @inkfilledsyringe attempted to make his own page but it kept 404ing on his uploads, so in order to help, everything on my page will go to help funding him until he gets settled with a new job and housing.
Here’s some art I was allowed to upload to my shop:

If you just want to support and don’t want to buy art (Idk why but ok) you can go give @inkfilledsyringe a follow and if you’d also like to just donate, this is his kofi account:

If ya’ll can too, share this around for more support. It would make me happy but most importantly it will make @inkfilledsyringe even happier and maybe he’ll get to eat something better than peanut butter and ramen.

these links are at each organization’s instagram or at the linktree posted above. there is also this amazingly massive worldwide crowdfunded airlift rescue mission, which is one place I’ve donated. they are directly funding flights, all the costs incurred such as fuel and security, to airlift at-risk and targeted people, families, journalists and activists out of Kabul. I’ve seen a lot of gofundme’s but never seen anything like this. https://www.gofundme.com/f/flyaway-emergency-afghan-rescue-mission

raising funds to stay housed during winter Storm Fern ~
As most of my followers are aware, I've been homeless for more than 4 1/2 years, and this Community has been my greatest ally in staying safe and sheltered. I've had several false starts when I believed a resolution was close at hand, only to have those hopes dashed. Life has become even more complicated since I've been diagnosed with Artirial Fibrillation in mid-December and am recovering from congestive heart failure. Thankfully, I'm receiving treatment, but my homelessness remains a huge issue. For those not familiar with my journey, I have chronicled it with the tag #coping with homelessness
matching donations challenge ~
Today an extremely kind and generous anonymous donor has offered to match any funds that I raise going forward up to $400--which is my goal to keep me sheltered another full week, and through Storm Fern which is now forecast to drop as much as twelve inches of snow on Connecticut from Sunday through Monday. I thank them not only for their generosity, but also for the brilliance of this idea. I've mentioned previously I'm waiting on my Department of Social Services interview to find out what state benefits I may be eligible for in addition to the Medicade perscriptions that are basically keeping me from a deadly stroke. Any donations I receive should see me through the resolution of my interview.
I've already received a donation today, so my fundraising stands at
$364 / $400
Please keep in mind that any amount you contribute will be doubled by the Anonymous Donor's pledge.
Contributions can be made to either my ko-fi (link below), or if originating in the US, via Pay Pal (please DM me for my email address). Bless you all for help of any amount you can manage, and for reblogs of this post.

Getting approval for my short-term disability pay is out of my hands now. It took three attempts for the State's fax of forms to be noted by my doctor's office (possibly because the State had my name spelled wrong!); the office actually called me on Thursday past for clarification of what it was about. Doctor is out of the office for the holiday weekend until Tueday, so I'm praying that means it'll be submitted by the end of this coming week. I have calls into the personnel office at my store to ensure they complete and submit a Certification of Employment on my behalf.
In the meantime, I have shelter through Monday morning before I'm back to sleeping in my car. Any contribution to help me extend my stay would, once again, be heaven sent. With tax and fees, the total is $73/night ($66/night weekly rate). I hate asking again, but the nights I spent in my car the week before last were the absolute worst of my life, and I'm praying hard to avoid that if I could.
I had hoped with all my heart to not need to do this again, but I'm back to living in my car indefinitely. The time frame for my disability claim to be approved is now 7-21 days, pending paperwork from both my doctor and Walmart. I've exhausted every possible resource here, with $50 left to live on for food and gasoline. Room rates have gone up, averaging $70-$75/week nights, over $100/night on weekends. The weekly rate is far better, at $465/week (all prices include sales tax). At this point, even a single night to allow my body to temporarily recover would be like a gift from heaven.
I'm exhausted from this never ending battle, but doing my best to hold on.
