idk much abt the overarching lore of lord huron's whole deal (frankie + johnnie + buck) but im ngl, if i (emerald star, song, vide noir 2018) got torn asunder through space-time, experienced cosmic horrors beyond my comprehension, became a ghost of the man i once was, and maybe died but i cant really tell honestly maybe im doomed to live forever as a lovecraftian monster, and YOU NEVER LOVED ME????? . Re-reading the Hetty Feather series as an adult, I would have much preferred if Jem, while really caring for Hetty, was actually lying to her and Eliza in the same way about eventually getting married. It's much more bittersweet as the actions of a boy trying to give a little girl some hope to cling onto at the Foundling Hospital, than what we get in the end which is a 19 year old awkwardly waiting for a 14 (maybe 15) year old to start loving him romantically. Jem, my guy, that's your foster sister and the last time you saw her she was 5. Wtf is wrong with you.
