i really like the genre of hoyo characters who are like. absurdly powerful, horrifying, or somehow non-human, but then their dream is to be a Cute/Elegant/Lovable Person with Friends. (i originally called it “Cute Girl” but there’s non-female characters who fit too haha)

i’m talking cyrene, firefly, castorice, evanescia, focalors, alice (hexenzirkel in general tbh), elynas, columbina, elysia… i haven’t been able to play linnea’s story quest yet, but i think she might be similar

hell, i would include venti in this. i know venti’s situation is more complex as he’s taken the form of a dead friend, but he still fundamentally enjoys being an ordinary person. a lovable character scurrying around mondstadt. a silly little guy if you will

it’s just like, “oh, i’m so powerful, i could bring nations to their knees, i could horrify, i could overthrow the order of the world. but you know what? i would much rather focus on the things i like, and things i find adorable. i would rather make wholesome friendships, paint nails together, talk about our favorite comics, go shopping together, etc. i don’t want power, i want to love and be loved. i want to live a happy life”

and isn’t that just freaking beautiful?? it makes me love my mundane, mortal, human life so much.
