Summary: On the night of his prom, after the storm and after Rachel runs off, Sam leans over the railing of the back porch and stares up into the pale, watery moon and the late-April stars, wishing it was winter so he could breathe out and watch it rise up in a cloud like smoke, anger and confusion fading into nothing and night. He wishes, too busy listening to the blood in his ears to hear the door shush open and shut, to hear Dean's bare footsteps on the worn wood. "Is it 'cause of me?" Dean asks, and Sam jumps. The drink is heavy on his breath, and he's standing too close.
