“do you think we should, hm...” elijah starts, not really sure he should even be bringing that up since he didn’t know what elle’s future plans were but he decides to do it anyway, having their daughter’s wellbeing in mind. he turns to face the blonde, looking away from the pasta he’s making for dinner. “you think we should start lookin’ into renting a house? an actual house with a backyard or somethin’ so that iris has more room to play? she’s, well, she’s growin’ up so quickly. she turns three in a few months and it got me thinking ‘bout this.” he walks towards the counter that divides their kitchen from the living room. the apartment wasn’t small, it was comfortable enough for the three of them, but it was something that had been on his mind for a while. “unless, of course, you had other things in mind. i just realized we never really talked about this stuff.”

being friends with elle was both easy and difficult at the same time. it was easy to see where elle was in her life and feel JEALOUSY. in a perfect world, barbie would be happily married with a child or two of her own. to be honest, barbara could never understand the intricacies of elle and elijah’s relationship. what she did know was that the two of them were living together with a child. pretty much how her parents raised her, so she didn’t quite see a problem with it. she didn’t fully understand how DIFFICULT that arrangement could be. but, as her therapist always said, ❛ OTHER PEOPLE’S MILESTONES DO NOT REFLECT WHERE YOU SHOULD BE. ❜ something she was still trying to tell herself as she was surrounded by so many young parents in roswell. “so, uh, how is iris doing? is she with elijah today or aunt ruby?” 

           (  @ellesfm​ !  )    ‘  did  you  bring  the  baby !?  ’   is  her  way  of  greeting  her  sister  ,   because  obviously  that’s  the  only  reason  why  she  keeps  her  sister  around  .   for  the  baby  ,   so  that  she  could  be  the  BEST  auntie  ever  .   ‘  lemme  hold !  ’   cue  the  grabby  hands  .  

“are you sure we got enough pictures of her in the costume, ells? are you sure they’re even good?” he asks elle, their daughter already scooped up on his arms as he waits for an answer. he’s aware that he’s acting just like his mom about the situation, wanting to take as many pictures as he could of his baby in her little costume. but he can’t help himself. it was the first halloween that elijah would be spending with iris and he was so excited about it. “do you think we should take some more later? am i being annoying about this? you know you can tell me to shut up, right?”
