#elementary s7

I’m glad that she has a significant role in Elementary! 

POI fandom treated her terribly. It’s not her fault her character was in a relationship with John and I hate how fans attack the actors who have no control nor say in their roles. 

Supposedly Reichenbach tweaked his code/algorithm to seek out crimes that are about to happen. He even had a ferry bombing but in this universe, they stopped the ferry bombing from happening. 

And he wants to recruit Joan and Sherlock to help refine his system. He’s even using the terms ‘hammer’ and ‘scalpel’ granted that’s a popular phrase. 

im honestly still kind of in shock rn; it’s hard for me to believe it’s over. ive been watching this show for over four years, and not to be over dramatic or anything, but i don’t really know what to do with myself now. four years was long enough to start accurately predicting 80% of the cases and almost all of the plot twists. ive spent my weeks eagerly anticipating joan’s impeccable fashion sense and the captain’s dry remarks and sherlock’s ability to draw connections between the weirdest and most obscure of facts. and, despite my initial misgivings, I cried like a fucking baby at the end of the season finale.

im going to be completely honest here: i really wasn’t that big of a fan of season 7. it was, in my opinion, kind of rushed and over-the-top, but you know what? fuck that. it was still amazing. it was still 12 episodes of sherlock and joan kicking ass and taking names and 1 episode of me getting my heart stomped on repeatedly. it was still a wonderful and final season chock full of what makes (made) elementary such a great show.

yes, the crime-solving part was engaging and fun to play guessing games with; and yes, the plot twists were, when they came, amazing. i could go on and on about all of the different things that made elementary such a beautiful show (and i guess i did in that one post lol) but what really made it special is what you see so clearly reflected over all seven seasons: friendship. the captain and sherlock, joan and marcus, alfredo, kitty, even sherlock and his dad, to an extent. they all formed bonds that made you want to cry and hug them and scream and hug them and the relationships were so real and beautiful that they alone deserve some kind of award.

and sherlock and joan’s friendship is the best of all. i keep on seeing other people describing sherlock and joan as platonic soulmates and i couldn’t agree more. elementary was, for all seven season, not just a show about murder and intelligence and sherlock and joan’s growth as individuals, but also about their relationship and what they meant to each other. they never needed to date or be in love to be the most important people in each other’s lives, and let me say, as a girl whose best friend is a guy, actually seeing that be portrayed as something important and not cast aside for romance makes me so happy i could cry. sherlock and joan’s friendship is what made this show so special. they were never romantic. but they were friends, they were family, and they did love each other.
